How do I use AR3 from WinUAE
What I mean is, how do I start the monitor and exit it? The real thing had a button if I recall.

Press "Page up" to enter and type "x" to exit then.

it doesn't work though!
I've selected the ROM, disable HRT (which was appearing instead), and now nothing?

I still can't get it to work.
I have 68000 cpu selected. I have 512k chip, but I can only select 1 meg fast - this won't work. 512k chip + 512k slow + 0 fast won't work either. The config uses a hdf for dh0: will this make a difference? I'll try now... |

If I use a quickstart A500, and boot from a floppy game, it still won't work. Don't know what I'm doing wrong, anyway, I'm tired and I'm going to bed now...

Hmm, which AR rom image are you using? Maybe some unsupported version?

Wouldn't Page Up open WinUAE's AR monitor??
If I remember correctly it should work up to 2MB of memory. Last edited by Anubis; 11 March 2007 at 17:51. |

Im using the ROM file MkIII v. 3.09.
If I select the ROM file in the config and then boot the emulator, the Action Replay screen is displayed for a few moments, before the insert workbench disk shows up. Without selecting the ROM first, the amiga boots off the harddrive. If I select the ROM after the workbench has loaded, and then press the Page Up key, nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong? |

You want to use harddrive and AR3? It doesn't boot from the harddrive with the AR3 because probably it wasn't designed to work with them. On real A500 both plug into the expansion port so you have to choose only one. Does the AR work after it shows the AR3 boot screen and Workbench disk picture or without harddrive? Inserting the ROM after loading doesn't work, it has to be there before starting the emulation / resetting.

Solved
Thor, you've hit the nail on the head! It works if I boot a game up with the quickstart.
It doesn't work with the harddrive though. So, are there any tutorials/help files on using the built-in WinUAE monitor? I've just noticed in the AR III manual it gives instructions for using the cartridge with the A590 hard drive. But the instructions don't seem to match what actually happens... Enter the monitor with Shift-F12, then enter 'h' or '?' for commands

Slightly OT, but I did use the AR3 together with an harddisk back then. And it worked w/o problems. The hd had an own expansionport where I could plug the cartridge then. HD booted fine and AR3 could be used w/o any problems. =)
