hehe they look pretty especially the A600 one. I had to use a simple desktop like that when I had my 1200 with 2chip.

Akira, you can use newicons with AGA but the default icons suck!

@Akira, stick with the Anime wallpaper, to me it looks the best If you have something from Urotsukidoji or anything hentai that would be the best This is just my opinion of course

I'm sticking to that BG, I like it I took a pic from some jap henti game and then touched up a bit in DPaint to get what you see..

I only would like to add an icon patch... that would be the last upgrade i make to it...

I had a nice anime BG on the 16 color A600 setup, I will take a pic and post it Dont tell me the A600 WB wasnt nice for 1993! All those fools with their Win 3.1s, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA H*koff*

This is my Workbench on my A1200 with 030 50Mhz and 16Mb fast ram.
I use my amiga on a TV and therefore the resolution is INTERLACED, but I use a tool called MagicTV (from aminet) which reduces flickering so much you don't even notice it. It is unbelivable... the only drawbacks are only 16 colours and sprite doesn't have proper colours... but as you can see it looks pretty (I like it simple, not too flashy, but with nice icons) :

I didn't see much difference between interlaced on my TV and interlaced on my 1084. I didn't use a flicker fixer there though, but still the result was somewhat the same.

The same here Drake, but MagicTv works like a wonder with 1084s and TVs.

Ok, here's my revamped A1200 Workbench Now it's running on 64 colors!

Frog, does Scalos run faster or slower than Workbench? I dont feel like changing it yet, but... if it's speedier I will give it a try

I'm not really sure if it looks better with 640*400 (above) or in 640*480.

One thing is certain, I'm bored of the wallpaper

Well yes, it adds a certain kind of "bathroom tile charm" to the layout

Scalos has several advantages. Instead of having several little patch like MCP etc etc... that finally make your sytem less and less safe, you've a kind of all in one. Original version of Scalos by Alien Design was made in asm but Satanic Dreams re-code it in C.
Anyway i think it's faster on some operation. It add some advantages to the WB i couldn't live without now
You can install it without any fear, it shouldn't change your wb, to go back to your old sys the only stuff to do is to replace the new loadwb command added by Scalos with the original one et voilĂ

oh... and sorry for the late answer :P

EDIT : as Scalos offer to set and lock your own WB palette, i've mix RomIcon + original Glow icon colors (original author choose them very well) for better icon color reducting.

Hrm finally I can screen grab my workbench.

Well I may not have gotten my a4000 back but I did get my old Harddrive back and with a little bit of work I managed to copy my entire old HD onto the pc and unbelievably WinUAE actually worked with my old Workbench with only the change of the spectrum graphics card I used in Picasso96 to UAEgfx. Nothing else has been changed and this is my workbench as of May2001. I'm sure I can make it better after a year but this is what I have atmo.
Oh and its 800x600x16bit, the same res as on my real amiga.

It looks a bit 1997esque, maybe a little more eye candy and less mix of Newicons / MagicWB. A good clean reinstall always helps.
