Shadow of the Beast

This game is also converted do Sega Master System

http://www.grospixels.com/site/beast.html

Also, it looks like it has been ported also to Neo-Geo !

MAMEMore0.82 has this game on list. I have rom but somehow I cannot force this game to work.

The SMS version isn't that bad! It's not as if the original had a lot going for it anyway!

I love sms but this game was better not released. Amiga original isn't great but at least it's graphics are.

Hmmm....

I'm sure my copy of Beast doesn't look that bad....

Will have to run it tomo....

That does look poor, I'm sure it looked better than that.

I found the SMS version to be pretty good, it was beautiful for such machine. IMHO, it was far better than the ST port of SOTB! But all the interest of the game was in the fantastic gfx & sounds, so on a SMS...

The PC Engine CD version was very beautiful, maybe the best after the Amiga version... However I didn't play the FM Town version which is said to be even greater.

SOTB was NOT ported no Neo Geo, I'm pretty sure about that.

Edit : there was a VCS 2600 version being developed but it was never released... It is possible to find a beta version of the game on the web.

Well, don't underestimate sms. It may be a 8 bit machine but it's the best 8 bit machine when it comes to games. (no SID chip obviously)

Wonderboy III the Dragon's Trap - Which other 8bit machine can run this?

Phantasy Star - 3d dungeons!

I used C64 after sms and was VERY disappointed in every aspect possible. Likewise, I didn't think Mega Drive was twice better, being 16 bit and all.

NEC PC Engine (Dragon's Curse)

But obviously, the SMS was a great machine : yes the dungeons of Phantasy Star really astonished me! And it was soooo neat on a Gamegear with the SMS adaptor (despite some glitches)!!! But I think it would have been really difficult to make a better port of SOTB on it.

The website only says: "It's one of those two". And that's OK.
I think it looks better if it isn't cluttered with our names, but I still try to avoid being lauded for thing I did not do
