I actually did it. I finished the whole game without tips or a walkthrough back at the day.

I came back to play it recently, first level I still rembered, but I was stuck very early not remembering how to beat a certain level.

Yes, it was an Amiga Action coverdisk and I played it over and over again. Took me absolutely forever before I accidentally made a skeleton head drop into the lava and see it do something. Quite the surprise!

Hehe, same for me. I had the whole game though. Such a fantastic experience back then!

Underrated game, one of System 3's best on the Amiga imho.

Whole game oozed class, graphics, sound, speech - even to the ending sequence

yes it has very atmospheric graphics, great music. An enhancement over the original c64 version.

That adventure feeling separetes this game from other platforms. I love the unique level design and puzzles. Nice touches like Achilles' heel or the nymph saying "Come closer" and "stop" was unforgettable. I studied archaeology, maybe just because of this game.

C64 version is more amazing. And Spectrum version is equally amazing and fluent for what it is.

Amiga version feels sluggish. Scroll and fps can be overlooked. They are not bad ( after all, this is not Turrican, thats clear enough ) but it is barbarian's control which feels slow and awkward.

Too many frames for jumping, few frames for some hits.. doubtable response, sometimes you get stuck just waiting the guy finish the dammed attack movement.

Is a good game, but could have been a great game.

I played the C64 version first and was very impressed. Very smooth, fluid controls, awesome music. The Amiga one just didn't feel as impressive, so the C64 wins for me.

I feel exactly the same..
btw, Quote from the Zzap!64 review:
"The Amiga programmers will have to work hard to top the C64 one!"

For me the C64 version is better. Considering the limitations of what they were working with it just felt better. It doesn't matter whether it's 8 bit or 16 bit it's all about the gameplay.

I also preferred Supremacy on the C64 (apart from the tape loading!) for some reason - it just felt better.

C64 wins, in my opinion.

As far as music goes, I always prefer a good SID tune to sampled music.

Today I thought I'd play this through on the Amiga, as it been a while

...got stuck at a few parts so resorted to the solution hosted at Lemon Amiga: http://www.lemonamiga.com/games/docs.php?id=1123

It seems to be more for the C64 version but it's enough to get through the game; even though some parts are slightly different

Anyway, updated my personal text file to make more sense in places and have attached to this post for anyone who wants it

HOL & Lemon Amiga; feel free to use this.

Removed, and added the new text file to this post

...sorry to all that previously downloaded but it's important everything is correct.

HOL for whatever reason seems to be just cheats rather than walkthroughs, whether this is actual policy or just how it's been in the past, I don't know. I've updated the walkthrough in GB Amiga though so thank you Mr. D.

Ooops, you guys are probably going to hate me but I've just finished re-editing it

It's sooo much better now, changed in stuff like:

Code:
Previously Now
-------------------------------
warrior statue Achilles statue
blue eye Eye of Horus
cross life symbol
head-dress cobra head-dress
coffin sarcophagus
Also rewrote many other parts to make more sense and reads better... Anyway, that's definitely all
