I have not used Topaz before. It is the AI upscaler right? I would be interested in your workflow. From the second image I noticed the background is smooth but the bridge is still pixelated. So are you splitting elements out, running them through the upscaler, then combining them again?

My work flow is kind of how long is a piece of string so many things to consider but below is a rough idea. I use the tools for my photo work and print work flow for expensive prints so I would not recommend spending to much money unless you need the tools. But If i was to recommend 2 of the topaz suit is denoise and upscaler as the up scaler does do a slight sharpen as well but some tweaking is required. Most of the work is done in adobe photo shop with many layers and various tweaks. I am very fussy with the results as mine are for print A3 A2 size so for me to hang a picture on my wall it has to be high quality the ones above for me are at about %80 done if I was to consider them for print. The Agony poster I posted in the psygnosis thread is worth a print but since then I have tweaked more lol. There is no magic bullet, for me personally I take maybe 7 to 10 hours work then scrap it lol it depends on your idea of quality. I am in the middle of a Turican poster not sure which way I going to go with it. The image above is what I started with the bridge would be very difficult remove the pixels so I made it a feature of it some may like some may not. Hope this helps. |

Thanks for that description freehand. I have to agree with you when it comes to making high end art, there is no quick way around it. Lots and lots of tweaks. Lot's of questions to yourself. It is often difficult to put the pen or mouse down. |
