Hello,

i'm a CAPS contributor and a big owner of amiga games in original forms.
I try to help whdload peoples if they need DIC images or mfm ones.
I'm posting here as i don't really know where i can post this thread.

I have Cannon Fodder in French but install doesn't work with it !!

And in the good things i got Dragon's breath translated by silmarils

in french (Yep info to add on HOL ), but like CF it doesn't work with your

install.

Also Fiath if you are reading my post, i have Double Dragon in V2.16, an

alternate. And last question to you, i have uploaded The Shortgrey in French

on Caps server but the game has a saddam hussein virus embedded in D2

when mastered. I got informations about another version that has instead the

virus ebola on it. Even the cracked version have the saddam virus on disk D2.

Will the game being preserved or not ?

Shortgrey - thanks for the heads up about the virus, we are currently debating whether to release virus-infected games (obviously only those mastered with viruses, of which we have only seen 2/3 so far) or not at the moment. It looks like we probably will, but include a warning about them being infected.

Releasing a game with a virus to me is a really stupid idea! Why not just erase the virus and release it? Surely all of the virus infected games are on Dos disks so it should be a simple case of nuking the virus by installing the bootblock or removing the file from the disk!

release the game as original must stay unmodified that's the main reason.

Or else i done it myself ages ago, as you can imagine !!!

For you Fiath, yes Dragon's Breath exist in French yes, in a Silmarils

compilation called Magic Worlds where there is Storm Master, Dragons Breath,

and Crystal of Arborea all in French. Crystal is a non-protected version as i

have already make DIC images and the protection is not initialising like other

version in French i own. I have more games that are not in HOL stated

that they exist in french. I will dump them to CAPS in the week.

Waxworks in french will be in the next games in french to be dump.

I didn't mean that you should erase the virus - I meant the CAPS team should erase it before distributing the IPF (just like they fixed the mastering error on say Winter Camp before distributing it)

Denis copy of Short Grey is dumped and two things to notice:
1, the game is commercially duplicated, on trace it even has the "traceback" tracks. (duplication info)
2, the virus infected disk is modified by an amiga machine.
In other words: the original does not have any virii or if it has what is dumped is certainly not how the original looked like.

So if anyone else has it please dump your disks.

I can't seem to get the french version (installed with the caps images) to work.

Under winuae it throws out an error just after the title screen saying:

Exception "Line 1010 Emulator" ($28)
at $53DF6 occured.

It does this just after I've clicked to get past the title screen. Both the English and German versions seem fine.

I got THB to test it on his A1200 and he says it doesn't run, the power light just flashes with a black screen, and every once in a while the hdd led flicks on. It doesn't even get to the title screen.

The 'DB' file on Disk.1 is encrypted, and the code is so completely stupid, it defies belief just how stupidly coded it is.

I can provide a decrypted 'DB' file which you should then copy onto Disk.1 and that should solve your problems. The same 'DB' file is compatible with ALL versions

About the shortgrey, i think there is 2 possibilities about virus contamination for this
game:

1- The master of the game already has the virus on it and then was mastered.
2- It could be more than possible, as the game was duplicated not in big quantities,

The programmeurs have brought the master to the duplicator, but then right after duplication, the disks have been tested on an amiga to see if they were OK, but with
read/write TAB write enabled -> as a result you have a game well mastered, but with
a virus at the end right before being put in reinforced plastic bag and then sold on the
market. But then it would mean that only the master is safe then !

any chance you could upload the dB file to the zone?

Also... does it only cause problems with the french version? As I can get both the De and En ones to work fine.
