Picasso96 Question
Im using Picaso96 (v2.0) with Workbench 3.1, kickstart 3.1 and the updated rtg.library from WinUAE 1.4.5.
My question is that if i choose any of the Picasso96 uaegfx modes, something funny happens, i get a nice resolution, but the icons go funny, where they are square normally, they are now rectangular and it looks ugly. Is this normal? if not how do i fix it? Many thanks. |

The non-interlaced native modes (i.e. 640x200 or 640x256) have an aspect ratio of 1:2, i.e. pixels are twice as high as they are wide. You can well see this under high zoom, for example in IconEdit or WBPattern.
If you try Hires-Interlace modes (640x400 or 640x512) you'll get a 1:1 aspect and everything looks as if its height was halved. But actually the 1:1 ratio is more natural than the 1:2 one. Graphics cards (Picasso96) always have an aspect ratio of 1:1. If you install a more modern icon package like MagicWB, NewIcons or OS3.9icons, then they will look better than the original four-colored icons on an 1:1 aspect display. |
