nice episode. I found especially interesting the comments on how the gurps system was a module and how the game would ask it questions; sparked some ideas of my own!

Thanks for posting, gilgamesh. I did a little research into the whole gurps thing, but still haven't come up with any clear answers. Apparently, Steve Jackson and the designers really wanted to go ahead with gurps, but there was some kind of issue at Interplay (at the top level). I'm guessing Jackson was asking for more money than Interplay was willing to pay.

That was a nice tribute made to Daniel Lawrence (Telegard) Matt.

There was some story about Jackson objecting to "excessive violence" in Fallout, which might translate to "too few money" of course. I didn't find it, well, very excessive.

Was that it was? I guess that would make sense, though the comments I read from Jackson kept indicating that the problem was somewhere higher up the chain.

Wow, 2500 hits in one day!
Btw, what is that thing flying through the picture at 3:30?

Would anybody here recommend Bloodlines?

Me. There's not much replay value in it, but it's a great ride for the first time. Luckily I didn't get too much errors, as that game is quite known for having them. Surely a great first person RPG
I don't say that your videos are ace, but I assume you know that by now Matt

I guess nobody has seen that movie I loved back in the 80s! It was about three kids and featured a C-64 IIRC. I don't want to tell you what it is, though. :P

Voyagers? Did that have a C64? It's been awhile...
(I'm sure it was the only movie in the 80's with 3 kids, so it has to be it..) :-)

BUZZ-- Wrong! Explorers!! :-( I was thinking of the right movie, but got the title wrong. :-(

Just went back and watched Matt Chat again, definitely Voyagers (I mean Explorers).. Great movie!!!!
(Sorry, I assumed it was some lame Youtube add that flew by the first time and didn't pay attention to it..)

Reminds me, what's a Rolls Kinardly? ;-)

I remember the joke, but not the title?

Perhaps it is the debate of shooting+killing children. There are versions of F1 + F2 where you can, and there are versions where the children are simply taken out.

Great movie!!! Thanx for the reminder!
I had no idea that was Ethan Hawke!!
I did know it was River Phoenix at the time, but Ethan hadn't become popular enough (to me at least) to register in my memory.

p.s. I heard they are going to remake Flight of the Navigator....

Over 4000 already and they're still coming!
This surprises me, since I had never (conciously) heard of Mr. McCain before.

Anyway I'm going to dust off Fallout and Arcanum again, right after Syndicate (my first PC game).

Hey, wait! Zeb Cook wrote AD&D 2nd ed., Planescape (paper and bytes), Pool of Radiance, lots of other stuff, and now he has the nerve to show up in Fallout's credits es well. There must have been some really interesting cooperation between TSR, SSI and Interplay.

Btw. the execution scene in Fallout's intro is cut in my edition. Mr. McCain said something about the "message" of the game, and this scene pretty much summed it up in a very sarcastic way. It's a shame.

I knew it! I downloaded an ISO version once (my original was a bit broken...) and all of a sudden I saw that part of the intro, not recognizing it. I thought I was crazy, but now I know for sure that my original didn't have that scene (and also no children)!

Yes, there was a lot of flack over the children, though I'm not clear on what the fuss was about. Apparently, at least one side quest in the childless version is unsolvable because the kid you're supposed to rescue isn't in the game.
