Guys, I almost have it now

WHDLoad is installed ok. I can drop the zip of a pre-installed WHD in using the window method, or extract to a folder and mount it.

On clicking the icon I get the WHD nag screen, as I want to be sure it works before I register, all looks good, and then I get the following dos error. Tried with half a dozen WHD's, and I always get the same error. (See Below)

Just as I think I have it cracked, the next bit fails to work

Any advice ?

I could not reproduce the error (CF2 ran correctly).

According to this site : http://mercenarysite.free.fr/hdinstal.htm and googling (results for EAB :http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&s...+loadfile+hunk )
it could be memory related.

However, since you use winuae, that seems a bit uncanny.
What are your RAM settings for Winuae ?

Thank you so much, dam good call
I had followed a guide on setting up UAE, which advised to set the chip ram at 2MB, Fast at 8MB, and Z3 at 8MB.

Its the Z3 that caused the error. Slider down to 0, and all works ok.
What is the Z3 setting ????

Thank you all for sticking with me. I was an Amiga fanatic in the late 80's and early 90's. I still have my 500 in the loft, complete with 5 meg of ram and a 40 meg drive. Also has an IBM emulator card in the expansion slot. Was quite a girl in its day before the 600 and 1200 came out
I've always been meaning to get it back out, but now I can sit in the office and surf memory lane, and that has put a huge grin on my face.

So thank you all again for making my day, but I'm sure I will be back with lots of questions on this journey.

Z3 is for Zorro III I think, which was some sort of 32-bit expansion slot that appeared with the A3000 (someone which greater technological knowledge my correct me on that point). Anyway, it is not really needed for restricted to gaming 'classic' emulation.

I think you are in the right place for your 'journey'. I suppose we'll see a few threads being ressurected when you'll get a bit bored and browse through some old threads.

Indeed (I am using a simple 3.1 workbench installation), with a little change it now looks more like a removable hard drive!

I guess I'll have to blame Magix/KG for their laziness on that point

Just a couple of quick questions if I may on the 205 error

The instructions I have found say to copy the kickstart 1.3 rom to Devs:kickstarts. I have no folder "kickstarts" in the Dev draw. Is it just a case of make your own draw or am I looking in the wrong place ???

This guide also advises you download the file "util/boot/skick343.lha" from Aminet. A search on Aminet did not produce a result. Where else could I get that file from.

Sorry I'm still being a pain guys

EDIT: Too slow...

Everything sorted and running well

Just waiting on the WHDLoad Registration code now.

Thanks chaps.

(Although I like the look of this OS3 and OS4 stuff, so I'm sure I'm going to be a pain in the rear to you all again )
