[Found: Hilt II] RPG like game set on a space station

Hi all,

Just recently back to the amiga scene, am trying to find some classic games that I used to play. This one was an rpg type game set (I think) on a space station. You could buy weaponary and bombs etc that would be able to destroy the environment. Credits were the currency. I cant remember if you played as robots or not.

The game was possible not a commercial venture I believe I received it on a CDPD disc for my A570

I know this is quite vague! Hope someone can help!

Off the top of my head, the first two space RPGs that come to mind are;

"MegaTraveller 1: The Zhodani Conspiracy"

and "Hard Nova"...

What was the interface like? Did you look through the eyes, from above or something exotic?

It was top down. There were gardens and shops etc on this space station. I think there were also laser walls in certain areas protecting weapons caches?

It looks very similar to megatraveller

Hey, wait. Robots, gradens and laserwalls, shops and caches? This strongly reminds me of Battlech. It fits the description nicely.

Right, having checked out these games I can confirm that it's not any of them. This game was probably distributed on the CDPD disc or Almathera 17bit CD forCDTV

So.. this was a long search. However the game was Hilt II (https://amiga.abime.net/games/view/hilt-ii) and solved with a little help from r/tipofmyjoystick.

Not the record though, Beasts & Bumpkins took 16 years

But it is great, it cures the OCD in all of us.

Yes, after 13 years having it niggling in the back of my mind any time I think of the Amiga. It is a huge relief to have this weight off my shoulders.

I need to devote a little time to play through now!

Yo, I never heard of Hilt II but when I first read the first post I thoght of the PD game "Mechfight" where you control a red robot from a top-down perspective through a space station and can buy weapons and shields at shops and later have to fight other robots and aliens. It's not on the Hal of Light for some reason but there's a YT video. I never go around to finish it but I managed to make maps for most of the areas.

I really don't what to say. I've spent some time playing both games. Although Hilt II was definitely a game that I had played at the time. It is actually Mech Fight that is the game I was looking for.

It has the robot, gardens, RPG elements, credits, bombs etc.

Amazing. Two games I had lost both discovered! Thank you!

Wow, I'm glad I posted this anyway after the answer seemed to have been found! I was a bit confused really when your description fit Mechfight so nicely, yet Hint II was chosen even though the gameplay differs a lot from what I've seen

If you need any maps for Mechfight feel free to DM me.
