EternalAmiga
Hi
After an absence of about a year, Ive resumed updating my website: eternalamiga.cjb.net I would like to ask if the amiga community thinks it is worth it, or are the games available already on other sites and therefore there is really no need for my website. If people think it is worth keeping I will redesign it and update it. Also what are some sites like Jambo where I can place my website to gain hits? Thanks |

Yeah I think you should keep it up, there are always new people wanting to try out Amiga emulation and a lot of the sites out there are most likely going to be too bloody messy or complex for them to have a clue what they are looking for.
You have screenshots and descriptions which is also pretty nice! You could try hosting some different amiga things to adf's? Maybe the CAPS games, they are pretty small in size and would offer people something different to download, and variety never hurt anyone! There are only a few sites I can think of that host caps games so any more I'm sure would be appreciated. |

I would go for a redesign and keep your site up. I looks like it has positive merits.

hehe,
they are like adf's but are images of the original disks, before they were cracked by groups such as skid row/fairlight etc. etc. the best place to find info is www.caps-project.org It's very nice! |

That is a bit of a misnomer. They are not "our" games. They are just authentic original games true to how they were originally mastered.
So they are basically unmodified, and include whatever custom formats and/or copy protection that existed on the actual disk. |

I was saying that to EternalAmiga, not you.
Yes, you and the other 10-ish people should recieve them as soon as I don't fall asleep at my computer. Coming to an evening near you "soon". |

there a few sites that offer every Amiga game known to man (or woman).. so i'd go with supplying really good games only (legal rights permitting of course)...
... maybe you should review the games aswell, try to offer things that TOSEC sites don't... keep up the great work... can you add www.amiga.ukhq.co.uk to your list of links... i've got you link from my site .. like the buttons |

You might want to not refer to the games as ROMS, too.

Hi Djay
I did have your site linked but my host stuffed up the whole site and I had to do a quick patchup. Ive fixed it now, its not the prettiest, I did have a banner up for your site but its gone missing. Thanks for designing those buttons There is a thankyou in the news archive somewhere PS From what I remember you were giving up your site a while ago or something (correct me if Im wrong) Last edited by EternalAmiga; 22 July 2003 at 13:28. |

By providing short descriptions and screenshots of the games, your site is already better than 99% of all this 'l33ch 100000 R0MZ' shit you normally find on the net A few suggestions:
Please change the link colour! This standard blue is really hard to read on black. Remove the link borders around the buttons in the left frame. They're useless, because it's obvious this is the menu. Some screenshots don't look right (e.g. A320 Airbus). Try keeping the original aspect ratio. All screenshots are kind of small. Why not put them up in their original size (usually 320x256 or 320x200)? JPG is a very poor format for screenshots, because it makes them all blurry. Better use PNG or GIF. That will also makes the files smaller. Other than that, I don't have any problem with this design. It might not be the prettiest, but it's functional - that's enough for me. As for getting hits, I'm running a webring / search engine dedicated to classic computer games of all systems at http://abandonweb.tuol.org (hint.... ) which you could submit your site to. You should be able to find a lot more similar big linkpages from there in addition, too. |
