Question Best way to play Eye of the beholder, Black Crypt etv in winuae?

No matter how much I try to figure this thing out I can't seem to get numpad to work for controlling the game. And seriously. Stearing by mouse and arrows is really not optimal.

How do I make the numpad work as intended ingame? As it is now it doesn't work on any of the PC's I tried it on (thought it had to do with my keyboard first so had to try).

I've tried google it and found no real solution. Is there any? Seems like it shouldn't be that big of a deal to make it work?

By default in WinUAE numpad is used to emulate the joystick in port 2
You can change this option via the "Game Ports" panel

Heya sketaful,

Welcome to EAB

Out at the moment but... set "Port 2" = "None" via "Gameports" and all will be good for what you've requested

I've done the same with these games, you can then use <arrow> keys and the <numeric pad> for movement.

First thing I tried. Sadly it seem like numpad doesn't work as intended. Strange.

I reconfigured the numpads and actually got it working now. The keys to move n, s, w, e worked as before and I remembered that DEL and PGDN could be used to turn left and right. On my laptop DEL, PGDN are placed in a way that it really isn't easy to use thought. Since I want to play on my laptop as well I had to rebind the keys.

The numpad had it's keys rebound and works now.
Bound:
NUMPAD4=Cursor Left
NUMPAD5=Cursor Down
NUMPAD6=Cursor Right
NUMPAD8=Cursor Up
NUMPAD7=Del
NUMPAD9=Help

This make it possible to play with the numpad again. Strangely PGDN is HELP in the key configs. No clue why.

EDIT: Oh, and thank you. Glad to be here

<Pg Dn> = <Help> in Amiga emulation

Anyway, glad you got it working... even if a mission!

Keys on that part of keyboard:
* Print Screen (SysRq) = screenshoot (clipboard)
* Pause (Break) = pause emulation
* Insert = Left Amiga
* Home = Right Amiga
* Page Up = Activate Cartridge (?)
* Delete = Delete
* End = Qualifier Special (END) - usually used for changing floppies
* Page Down = Help

Only Scroll Lock is not mapped for anything by default.
