Amiga 4000 motherboard removal
Hi all
I am attempting yo remove my motherboard to send it for recapping. I have removed all 9 screws on the board but it still does not "lift out". It appears to be stuck at the Serial/Parrallel connector. Do I have to remove the 4 bolts on the Serial and Parallel sockets to remove the board? Answer: Just the top two on the Serial port! (I thought that was odd, hence I asked). Thanks Last edited by Sanxion; 19 April 2018 at 09:34. |

Ok...I have removed the motherboard and cleaned it.
I have noticed that the caps all seem to be fine. The solder joints on either side are still silver in colour and they don't look bloated or deformed. The machine also seems to work fine. My question therefore is, should I still have this recapped? What do you guys think? |

The one next to the RAM sockets doesn't look too healthy. I'd just have it done and that's another 20 years before you have to care.

Yes, the solder pads don't look as bright (or healthy) as the others.
I have ordered an anti-static bag, so when it arrives I will send it to AmigaKit for recapping. They seem to offer it at a reasonable price. |

I only replace capacitos if they have leaked, except that if any of the 22uF have leaked I replace all of them.
By the way, your Lisa is a pretty uncommon version, it's not made by HP as they usally are, I have looked at maybe 20 A4000 motherboards, only ONE had a non-HP Lisa. Another strange thing is that you have a socketed Buster-09, is that from factory ? all -09 I have seen have been surfacemounted, -11 can be either socketed or surfacemounted from factory. |

I did have socketed -09 and changed it to -11.

If you want your motherboard back in a matter of days / a week or so contact bebek on Amibay!
He can also do the 64MB Fast RAM mod and probably the 112MB one as well at the same time as replacing the caps. |
