Microprose are back!!!????

http://microprose.com/

Heard about it on the Retro Hour podcast
[ Show youtube player ]

(jump to 9 mins if you want just the microprose bit)

EDIT:

Because people are commenting before reading follow up comments (which we all do), here is some updated information.

From 9mins into the retro hour podcast posted above, we learn that the new owner of Microprose is David Lagettie who it would appear worked on Carrier Command Gaea Mission, Wings remastered, and also some Military Market simulation open world system called TitanIM.

From the website it looks like someone acquired the brand name and is trying to leverage its history for a tangentially related helicopter sim. The website looks very half-baked and is full of grammatical errors—not a great first impression for such an important piece of marketing. I wouldn’t expect much to come from this, but perhaps I’ll be proven wrong.

We think alike and that is EXACTLY what has happened. Listen to the reto hour pod cast.

Time code is just after 9 mins

But yes someone has acquired the rights to use the name.

I "hope" they use it to become a seal of quality but only time will tell.

I would mention the starting time, in embedded videos it unfortunately does not work to link to a specific time.

Just after the 9 minute mark

one of the creators of TitanIM, with experience in military combat simulators?

Good enough for the brand of an old gaming company?

David Lagettie ring any bells?

My money is on android and apple games filled with advertisements and micro transactions.

It'll be another startup using an old name to get a quick sell based on nostalgia. Anyone seen that CBM are back, Commodore Business Machines.... Yes using that name to push crap android phones but just think you could play the latest Microprose game on your CBM phone...

And also this looks like his simulation work.....

If that's what he's really been involved with......this could be a return to form for the name?

I have not tried any of those games, but from steam, Carrier Command: Gaea Mission got mixed reviews - only 46% positive. Jmmijo recomends the game, while Fiss and Shoonay also have it. Wonder if any of them tried it.
