I wonder how tough it is in microswitches. I am looking for a suitable joy for my son (5 years), he is not much familiar with joypads and joystick that I have at home,

If you don't think it needs suction cups is that it doesn't need them, and I preffer it without them.

Ejem... But if the price could be dropped to 40€ would be better . Perhaps you could sell it also as make it yourself cheaper.

So do I. I tend to swing it from side to side and back and forth or up and down in sync with the stick movement when performing tricky manoeuvres, so to speak.

Mine was a serious question. I've already said I like it and I expect it could still be hand held - even if it's intended for the desktop. Nevertheless, I wouldn't expect it to be heavy.

I'm looking for something a little (or a lot, tbh ) less slack than my Cruiser.

If you just want the best joystick ever you can buy this (well, another; this is mine and arrived yesterday, just like another I've got), but I don't want to start a war about joysticks...

Mine is hand held ("and-held also hand·held (h nd h ld ). adj. Compact enough to be used or operated while being held in the hand or hands").
This joystick must be heavy, if not you would need the suction cups.

Yeah this looks absolutely GORGEOUS but I have found myself not liking to use big ones like these. I used to have a Megastar which probably is about the size of this one, proper arcade-like controls... I couldn't hold it in my hand and using it on the table just didn't work. I also tried the lap method, wasn't feeling it either (also tried it with a Sega Arcade Stick)

It works on an arcade setup, where you are standing or sitting and your huge screen is located just right and, more importantly, the controls are fixed to a huge furniture that doesn't move around with your movements, but on a normal computer desktop setup it's a bit odd.

Then again, if anybody feels fine with that, this looks like a fantastic arcade-grade joystick!!!
Hopefully this goes well for you guys and you consider making a "micro"handheld version of this fantastic looking joystick.

Is that the left or the right handed version that's shown in the image? Right handed means stick on the left, buttons on the right Doesn't matter if you're going to make both, of course

One serious question, though. Why doesn't it have three buttons? Amigas support three buttons without any need for electronics. Also, three buttons would make it more useful on the peecee.

Regardless of the button thing, this is certainly something worth buying MUCH better than the joypad I'm using. I hate joypads

I agree. Right handed version is for me what he says. Also making it with 3 buttons would mean it could be used with MAME I think -Shoot, grenades and jump-, and you've got the perfect room/place for that.

I have to agree with the posters asking for a USB version. I've been there and done the adapter thing and won't be going backwards. As long as it's not like the sword-in-the-stone Comp Pro remake I'll buy one.

Im right handed and quite unco with my left hand (right handed ppl usually have better fine motor control with their right hand anyway), makes for dieing a lot with arcade style layouts !

so how are you classifying right vs left handed? right handed = stick right-side, and left handed = stick left-side (ie stick in hand with best natural coordination)?

Oh and any chance of dimpled buttons instead of domed buttons?

I'm right handed (NOT ambidextrous) and I prefer the following:

- Table top joystick/arcade: Stick left, buttons right.
- Hand stick: Stick right, buttons left.
- Joypad: Dpad left, buttons right.
- Keyboard: Movement (cursor keys) right, buttons (letter keys) left.

In the case of this stick it doesn't matter, because there will be two versions

Unfortunately it's difficult for me to use a real Amiga, so USB is the only way - hopefully without having to buy and extra adaptor.
