New 8-1 SCART automatic switch

I am not sure this is the proper place for this but I recently found on the AssemblerGames forum that a guy had built an 8-1 SCART switch with automatic switching that he was manufacturing and selling.

From what I have been able to gather on the forums, the quality of the switch is really high and it is probably one of the best that ever graced the retro world.

The pre-orders are currently closed but information about the site is available at
http://www.gretrostuff.com/store/pre...gscartsw-v3-4/.
If there is enough interest from the Amiga community maybe he will consider another batch?

The price is pretty high but this seems to be an excellent long term investment for any multi-setup retro enthusiast.

Quoted from the above site:
Quote:
Price: $225 + shipping

Features:
1. 8 SCART inputs;
2. SCART / VGA simultaneous output;
3. 3.5 audio jack output;
4. Design with focus on video quality;
5. Automatic switching (sync based signal detection, no power pins needed);
6. Integrated sync stripper (ON/OFF switch);
7. Integrated DC Restore circuit;
8. Integrated video amplifier;
9. VGA HSync/CSync mode selection (ON/OFF switch);
10. EXT header support to query enabled input;
11. PSU polarity & overvoltage protection;
12. Externally powered (standard 2.1 DC jack, 7-12V, center positive), hi-quality universal power supply is included.

That'd be really useful!
Shame there's a limited production run, and it is quite a lot of money - probably good value for what it is.

Way too expensive for my taste.
If your main goal is RGB switching, there's a much cheaper way.

PC KVM switches are cheap and plentiful, I used SCART<->VGA adapters & cables with such a KVM to connect multiple machines to a single monitor (A500, Atari ST, Amstrad CPC, Spectrum 128).

For Composite/SVideo switching, there are incredibly cheap manual switchers.
