Ghosts 'n Goblins vs Ghouls 'n Ghosts - Which Is Best?

Hi everyone and welcome to the January 2018 edition of the "Which Is Best?" and the first of the 3rd series (started back in Dec' 2015).
Last month I placed the arcade classic Gauntlet II against Ranarama asking you which in your minds was the better game Gauntlet type game and after counting all the votes I can now reveal Ranarama is the winner with 21 votes with Gauntlet II receiving 17 votes.
I have to admit as a Ranarama fan I had a strong feeling that Gauntlet II was going to win as it is more well known amoungst gamers so to me this was quite an upset,...not taking away how good Ranarama is.

To start the 3rd series I'm going to place the two Capcom Arcade classics Ghosts 'n Goblins against Ghouls 'n Ghosts, which do you think is the better game?!, only your votes will determine that,...happy voting! :-D

GNG is the best by far
when the game came out in 1985/1986 , there was nothing similar to that, everyone was impressed by the GFX,music, soundFX
together with super mario 64 , GNG was the videogame that most impressed the crowds

I vote for Ghosts 'n' Gobilins: is a VERY close conversion to the arcade, down to the little tricks like position of the armor, bonus, even glitches! The joystick jump suck a bit but at the end a real player get used to it.

Ghouls'n'Ghosts is a lost occasion: probably if US gold deadlines were not as tight as we know we might had a more decent port but the way it is now is bad for everthing beside the awesome Tim Follin soundtrack.

This is relative to Amiga port of course.

If we talk about arcades, then first Ghosts'n'Goblins was a breakthrough. When i saw it first time in 1985 i thought the graphic for the time was very well rendered (one of the first 256 colors games to use very well its medium), was atmospheric, very good soundtrack, various well defined environments (was something pretty new by the time) and the right amount of humour and cartoon feeling that made it not too scary but not too wacky (yes, it was something rare at the time, either games were tremendously serious or completely cartoony).
Even the two-hit state was pretty new as idea and was implemented in the most creative way, leaving you in undies after the first hit!
Plus it was TOUGH and was having its own easter eggs and secret bouns, and that did multiply longevity!

Really tough choice but I'd have to go with the original Ghosts 'n Goblins. Insanely hard, man did I put a lot of quarters into that thing

...but Ghouls 'n Ghosts is awesome too; more polished, fancy graphics, golden armour / powers on weapons etc.

This arcade "series" is cult / classic.

The SNES version: "Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts" rocks also

Ghost n Goblins wins the nostalgia points, but loking at them objectively, I'd say Ghouls is a better game.

Tough pick as you wouldn't have the sequel without the original...but only lean towards Ghouls as I could rarely reach level 2 in the arcades.
That bloody red demon on level one of "Ghosts" was the death of my juvenile (poor) self!!
