Aaargh!

Aargh! was made in 1987 and not 88 as stated by HOL

What makes you think that? Aaargh! was reviewed in 1988 in Amiga Computing (Aug issue) and Zzap!64 (Oct issue). Even the disk scans of the US and UK releases in HOL are (c) 1988.

It was the Arcadia coin-op that was released in 1987 and that was looked at in an arcade games article in the Zzap!64 Christmas 87 issue.

This is error number two in Cody's Top Ten Amiga Database Mistakes

Remember folks, copyright dates are not necessarily the same as Amiga release dates!

That's the copyright year, which may not be the same as the year of release on the Amiga.

The classic examples of this are Monkey Island 1&2. Check out the Amiga titlescreens and you'll see that they say 1990 for MI1 and 1991 for MI2. These copyright years refer to the original work on the PC. On the Amiga the copyright date remains the same, but the Amiga conversions were released in 1991 and 1992.

Copyright is a way to protect an original artistic creation and it 'begins' at the point of creation. In the case of Amiga games that are conversions from other systems, this point of creation is earlier than the Amiga release date.

No, no ... see Super Hang-On, my standard example I give.
(c) 1986 on the title screen, but the Amiga version of the game is from 1988!
