Exclamation Project-X WHD new slave

Here a new slave for Project-X which fixes 1 access fault in level 2, 2 accesses fault in level 3 and some snoopbug. Level 1 and 4 seem to be ok. Level 5 was not tested yet.
This slave uses only files, not diskfile. SPS #289 and #886 versions are supported.
To extrat the files from disk, create a data dir, open a CLI and type:
xadunfile Disk.1 DIMG data/
xadunfile Disk.2 DIMG data/
xadunfile Disk.3 DIMG data/
xadunfile Disk.4 DIMG data/

You will get:
Code:

I would like to test it, Psygore. But i need an invincible cheat for that game.

Edit: Can't install SPS #289 and #886 versions, i get a "checksum 880" error in WinUAE for both, after insert a disk. Could you upload a preinstalled version?

Well I'll have to give this a go tonight - it may persuade me to give Project-X one last go for the compo

Thanks Psygore!

What setup do you use, VermillioN? If it's an 040 it doesn't bode well for me...

Doesn't look good for me then, but I'll probably try it anyway.

Here a new slave:
- F1 during the game for toggle on/off collision. Must be activated for each level.
- CUSTOM1=1 for select level 1-5 in menu

Of course if you cheat, no hiscores will be saved, but hiscores table will not be displayed.

It should be fixed now.

Lots of change have been made into this slave, let me know if you find something wrong.

Thanks for the new slave, will test the game on my 030 machine now.

Just played through the game. There were no crashes, but the last bombing level is a bit garbled with wrong colors and the music sounds messed before the level starts.

I couldn't see the end-sequence, it goes straight back into the titlescreen after the bombing. Then i used the level cheat, started at level 5 again and the end-sequence was shown.

Wow psygore you do work fast..

Ok well now NOCACHE needs to be enabled otherwise the sound is bad.
I had a quick go, died, started a new game and it crashed whilst decrunching the level (power light flickering):
access fault ($7008)
PC = $9659E
word read = $F6000

I ran a simplified workbench startup without scalos etc running, and the game has not crashed yet. I made it to the 2nd level boss but was obliterated

note: since having to enable NOCACHE there is much more slowdown when the screen is busy.

I couldn't fly to those balls so I can't tell if it works well. But I encountered Access Fault when flying the third ship and finishing level one. Flying second ship nothing such happens. Coincidence or a rule? Anyone can confirm? (My config: BPPC 040).

Thanks for your reports and sorry for the delay.

Here a new slave with some following adds/changes:

- slave requires 512k chipmem and 512k fastmem (unless you use expchip)
- instruction cache enabled
- empty dbf loops in soundfx play routine patched
- level 3 in sps886 has some sound speech corrupted ("guns" and "magma"), this has been fixed.
- Access fault fixed in level 3
- There is a version which level can be skipped with firebutton+esc. In next level, you will have power weapons in max but it can have some accesses fault when you select another weapon. That's fixed now.
- keyboard handler inserted, you can play the game with cursor keys, right alt for fire, right shift for 2nd fire.

It also supports X-Arcade joystick for real Amiga. To connect this joystick on your serial keyboard connector, you will need a pc keyboard interface and surely an DIN5 -> mini DIN6 adapter.
The X-Arcade joystick will run like on a PC, no driver needed. Here the keys to remap: up: keypad 8, down: keypad 2, left: left Amiga, right: right Amiga, fire: right alt, 2nd fire: right shift

Let me know if you find some/anothers problems.

I'm getting a wrong checksum in CDANG when extracting Disk.1
Should I just ignore that ?

I installed it by myself some weeks ago, zipped & unpacked it and got the same CRC error.

Never tried this Beta 3, Project X is soo boring. Have you fixed the garbled graphics in the last bombing level, Psygore?
