UAE Android with Floppy Disks

So with the video below, we could run UAE on a tablet, and load the Amiga software off floppy disks. If I didn't have a real Amiga, it's something I would definitely do: [ Show youtube player ]

If I remember correctly USB floppy drives cannot handle the Amiga formats.

Surely one could save the UAE data files or an ADF file though. Or at least use it for UAE save states. Still, a fun hack.

Indeed, the built-in FDC in those units is SO inflexible that usually it can't even handle PC-formatted 720k floppies.

It would still load the whole thing to RAM before you can even start, and you'll have to sit your ass there waiting for a slow floppy to read through 1MB worth of data.

Pointless and nowhere near the experience of loading stuff on a floppy in an Amiga.

For those without an Amiga, I still say it's a little more like the real thing, especially the sitting there waiting bit

No, it isn't, because you would be there sitting waiting for the ADF to load to RAM, then waiting in the emulator for the game to actually load.

Just use an emulator and turn thiose floppy noises up.

No big deal. It's just a matter of opinion. If I hadn't handled a real floppy disk in 20 years, I'd enjoy using this with real 3½" disks and UAE compared to just the floppy sound effects. It's nice to have options! 👍😉

I know the feeling, nostagia.
I do the same with the spectrum emulator. I will not use fast / flash load. It has to load with screech's and all, . God the hours I wasted only to have it crash back in the day.
