Still none-the-wiser how to apply AHI to Scumm though if anyone can help.
Cool

You don't need to apply it, scummVM just uses it. Have a look at the ScummVM readme, it tells you how to set up AHI and how to improve your system's performance.

Oh and don't forget to install PFS3 or SFS, FFS is terrible for things like ScummVM.

I've no music with SCUMMVM AGA 030 - the sound effects are ok - but no music. Any ideas. Amiga 1200 ClassicWB3.9 1230/56.

Hiya,

No (MIDI) music for 030 I'm afraid, it's just too slow. I had to disable the option because lots of people were trying it on 030 and it made the games unplayable.

You really need an 060 to do MIDI music emulation.

Can ScummVM Amiga play the music/sfx from the Amiga version of MonkeyIsland 2 datafiles? I would like to use your new engine to play it.

Hiya,

Yes it should work but I've never tried it. I normally just use the PC data files for the best quality.

If you can get the Amiga files to work then can you let me know on this thread, thanks

I've installed the 030 - AGA version. I can only select PC speaker for music, Adlib and the others doesn't show up in the list. I have to turn music off to get the game started, if I select Music - default or PC speaker, the game will not start, only a black screen instead. Someone got a clue?

030 is too weak for music emulation unfortunately, that's why I turned it off by default.

Thanks for replay. What about Police Quest III? It will not recognize the game, but when I use the RTG version, the same game are recognized and can be played?

Same deal I'm afraid, an 030 is just too slow for SCI games.

That's why I have an 80 MHz 060

I wonder if your ScummVM port would run on Majsta's Vampire A600 accelerator with music?
Does your port support ECS?

Yes it does support ECS (and even OCS)

I had an A4000t with RTG and 060@75MHz, sold it cheap back in the days. Struggling to find something similar and affordable today.

Hey mate,

you're doing such an amazing job! I see a lot of cool stuff on Aminet by you: http://aminet.net/search?readme=novacoder&arch[]=m68k-amigaos&sort=date. From time to time I get asked whether I couldn't try to adapt your ports to Atari or why it's our SDL so slow.

Is there a place where do you release source code to comply with GPL license? I'd love to compare our code base.

Thanks

Not much time for Amiga coding these days but I'm still working on a new 68k SDL port of v1.2.15 for AGA/RTG.

The source code for ScummVM has already been released on to AmiNet.

Is it not possible (and I'm sure it must be) to code a util that takes every MIDI music file, and converts them into a sample instead which can be simply loaded in parts instead?

Natively that would take very little processor time and mean that 030 Amigas could have music playing. OK, there would be small jitters when sample loading would have to stop whilst the next screen is displayed, but this would be possible would it not?

Yes it would, I did it about 4 years ago for my DOTT port

Very time consuming though to convert all of those files by hand, it would need to be automated to be practical.

I went from MIDI to MUS (same as DOOM) for DOTT

Another DOTT port used MIDI to MOD

Any progress implementing MIDI with Roland hardware, or at least any hope for it by now?

Nothing to report yet unfortunately. I'll try to get it working with DOOM/AmiWolf first.

After that I'll try and port v1.5 of ScummVM (eye of the beholder)

I didn't realize it's part of the archive. If I may ask, why did you chose to use your own backend instead of the SDL port you'd been working on?

Just because I ported ScummVM before I'd done my SDL port
