Lines' tips do help, it's easier to make less mistakes playing this way.

2 eagles this round:

Crans-sur-Sierre: 71
Valderrama: 68
=============
Total: 139

With the help of the instant replay, was able to record the Hole 1's birdie with this poor netbook
Sorry for the bad quality but it's cool that we can call the 'Instant replay' as much as we want !

Not bad, for my first eagle I did a 94 yards-putt though.

And here's the 18th hole from yesterday:

I'll switch back to the AGA version now (although I think the simplistic OCS gfx aged better).

Here's my first attempts. Actually I have never before tried this, but it's not too much different to PGA Tour Golf. And I didn't find this as nerve wrecking as Leaderboard on C64

Thanks !
BitD I hitted many "Whaup" (hole-in-one) with Leaderboard.
With PGA European Tour, it's more difficult (but I touched 2, 3 times the flag pole). You can't imagine how much I was happy when I saw my ball entering the hole

I didn't see that LinesMachine had scored a great score at Valderrama.
Looks like I'm gonna have to take over the clubs tonight...

Whaup sounds close to One Up or 1UP to me. Never thought you can collect 1ups in a golf game.

I'm glad it helped. I would offer more advanced tips, but quite frankly any further suggestions are bordering on speculation (in that, when I follow the tip myself it is mixed in it's fortunes), for example; never hit a shot with straight feet. For some reason it often feels like drawing or fading a shot reduced the severity of a hook or slice. Probably the best compo shot I did was on the 3rd hole of Valderrama where I drove the ball hard to the side of the pin and faded it to drop on the putting green to within 2 feet of the hole.

The only other tip is a real golf tip. Stop trying to put the ball down the hole until you are putting within 10 yards. It's a useful mental state to get into as suddenly you relax a bit and start to really think about the whole hole. There is a Ben Hogan saying "A shot that goes in the cup is pure luck, but a shot to within two feet of the flag is skill.”

I'm done. I went to Switzerland one last time this afternoon. I was par at the turn, was never going to better my score, but I saw the 18 holes through, finished -1 and really enjoyed the round. That's what's great about this game, it's pleasant to play!

He said that because he never managed to directly put it in

My best go so far for the Valderrama's course : 60
Don't regret going to bed so late today... A rest well deserved now

Edit: was so happy to go to sleep that I even forgot to write the score, oups... Corrected.
122 : 62 (CH course) + 60 (ES course)

The programmers have made funny comments.
Here is what was commented yesterday when I scored an eagle on hole 17 :

Valderrama feels harder than the Suisse course to me. To score a -11 there is crazy.

You make this look easy. Well done malko!

@Lines: Thanks again for the tips. That's definitely the best way to play.
I'll still try to sink the ball from 100ft away. I think that's the only chance to get any closer to your scores since there are only 3 days left now.

Yes this "makes it look easy" is funny as I know that such score doesn't happen every day .
Definitively not the much important, but, it's one of those little moments in life we have to enjoy .

We all play differently, anyway :
- always take care of the wind (even for small distances) ;
- hit as much as you could with the drive (my maximum 301yrds) and then adjust the clubs according to the distance to go when you are ready to reach the green/flag ;
- try to land the ball at the edge of the green so that it rolls towards the flag ;
- look at the green and adjust your putt according to the gradient/slope ;
- train your putt (difference is not made with the drive but with the putt ) .

True. That's where the phrase "the proof is in the putting" originates from.
