I've compared Videntium Picta with the earlier EyeViewer SE, both available from Morguesoft. I have a few observations I wanted to share.

EyeViewer SE in FS-UAE w/68060 is *fast* and has as a feature I can't recreate in Videntium Picta: You can bring up a directory in a side window and very quickly fly through photos.

Videntium Picta will allow you to scroll through photos but there is no directory listing, just a next/back feature. Videntium Picta does not always render the correct aspect ratio of the photo one is viewing; Eyeviewer has no issue in this respect. You must adjust the frame in Videntium Picta. This isn't a real issue as such and I'm just noting the difference and 2 items that perhaps the developer will address in future versions. I like Videntium Picta quite well otherwise.

No doubt Eyeviewer has the elder pedigree and I'm not complaining. Videntium Picta is a great application and one day will be the obvious successor of EyeViewer. Videntium Picta uses the Hollywood plug-ins to manipulate images in many ways EyeViewer cannot. I was also able to use it to open a few .webp images I'd downloaded but had to add the type to the path. EyeViewer simply brings up the .webp images in the directory viewer and renders them.

I'm really looking forward to the future of Videntium Picta and hope it may one day replace EyeViewer SE as my "go-to" image viewer.

Hmm... Hollywood is slow for A4K zero60/PPC (WOS) for movies so I'm wondering how it does for pictures in multi-tasking mode vs MultiView displaying a bunch at a time? Hmm..

I'll check it soon enough. Appreciate the update. Also, improved news posts noticed.

I find Videntium Picta to render more slowly than EyeViewer SE. EyeViewer doesn't use Hollywood and is lightening fast on a 68060 (A4000 emulated, FS-UAE). Those Hollywood plug-ins aren't all that old - just a few years so I can't fault Hollywood for being aged. For now I prefer EyeViewer SE.
