Formula One Grand Prix [lemon] [hol]

Rules:
This round starts now and will end Sat 14th October 2023 11:59pm UK Time.
Get the best score you can during this time-frame.
Write the name of the track, and your score at the top, attach screenshots nearby.
Scores to be achieved without save-states, trainers, passwords, and cheats.
No continues or infinite score leeching.

Special Rules:
Players must use the 16fps compo hack - the EXE, WHDLoad or ADFs provided.
Choose Non-Championship Race.
Play Adelaide and Interlagos tracks in Amateur mode, Any tyres A to D, Any setup.
Qualify for the race, and then play the whole race.
In case a beginner player crashes his car, we will give 20k for each completed lap.
Score = Final Race Position (- Fastest Lap) or (- Total Race Time) (/2 if using auto gears), see first post below.
Finish both races in position #1 to get the completion star.

Screenshots
Players can take their screenshot at game over point, when it says Race Over on the screen, so get their finishing position and their best lap. If the race is beaten in 1st place, then players must also take an image showing their total race time as well.


Scoring:
We are going for a different scoring method this time, which is supposed to be better than how we did it in 2017. This is only the second time we have played the game in championship mode, so hopefully this time it will be an improvement.

If players finish 20th - 10th, they just get a standard set of points for their finishing position.

If players finish 9th - 2nd, they get the position score, but they must also take away their fastest lap time (in whole seconds. e.g. 1min 10 seconds is 70 seconds, 1min 20 seconds is 80 etc).

If players win the race, then their total race time is deducted from their position score.

20th place = 500,000 points
19 = 1M
18 = 2M
17 = 3M
16 = 4M
15 = 5M
14 = 6M
13 = 7M
12 = 8M
11 = 9M
10 = 10M
9 = 11M (minus best lap, e.g. 1.20.234 = 80,234)
8 = 12M (minus best lap)
7 = 13M (minus best lap)
6 = 14M (minus best lap)
5 = 15M (minus best lap)
4 = 16M (minus best lap)
3 = 17M (minus best lap)
2 = 18M (minus best lap)
1 = 20M (minus total race time, e.g. 15:20.237 = 920,237)

I'm surprised how slow I was against pro level. 20th in qualifying and in race was about 7-9 seconds slower on lap against best drivers. So had to get good start and then try that nobody surpassed later
Automatically there was amateur level highlighted, so that must be changed to pro before playing. I wanted to see KM/H instead of MP/H, so switched that too.

Thanks for being a good sport el_pasi.

The Pro mode refers to an option of disabling the driver aids, and is not connected to the opponent level option. I've changed the rules so that it reads Amateur mode, so players dont get confused.

I've also updated the WHD link, so that the icon now doesn't link to WHD16.2.

Ah, it did mean driver aid. It was good to practice in pro-mode anyway
Does it matter which driver we choose? Or is it Hamilton as default which everybody uses? Probably HP of teams is different, so I'd assume Red Bull being fastest.

Hamilton and Russell are the same Max HP, so I'd say choose either of those. The cockpit graphics are fixed, and the other cars are not so fast. But looking at the on-boards of the other drivers, they can take corners quicker in some cases, but are slow in other areas, due to the AI.

Several, several attempts. I had to qualify for at least 6th to be able to get first place in start. Because I really can't match the speed of top 5 -drivers
Well next Adelaide, which will be much more difficult. Probably can't get first place there, but we'll see.

There is also a new newbie rule, so they can use auto gears but they get half score.

14th at qualifying. Start went well, I was 6th and drove then slow laps. Only Stroll and Leclerc later crashed out, so that's how eventually I got 5th place.
I am crap at street circuits, drove slow like turtle to avoid walls
