People tend to go to the zip stick as a favourite. I've used it before and yes its nice but personally I prefer the joypad over a stick so use my CD32 pad for most games.

Do you like digital joysticks? Analogue ones? Gamepads? How many buttons would you prefer? Would you mind it if you would have to import it overseas? The devil is in the details.

Use your favorite gamepad with an Amiga adapter to convert it CD32 signals, or alternatively buy one of the new CD32-compatible pads out there.
Even for games that don't natively support the CD32 pad, there are now tons of whdload patches that enable CD32 controls so you don't have to reach the keyboard to activate secondary weapons, or press up to jump, etc. |

Sega Master System gamepads are great and fairly common / affordable. They also support 2 buttons in some games.

I would always recommend a cruiser with a USB adapter (if playing on a PC via an emulator)

Back in the days I used the Albatros, but unfortunately I dont think a modern version does exist today. Maybe the Speedlink Competition Pro with an USB adapter?

The Quickjoy Megastar is my favourite joystick. Even after almost 30 years of use it's still going strong. And it's a beauty. I find it ergonomically much superior to zipstick/competition pro models.

I would recommend the Mini Monster Joystick. The premium model uses quality Sanwa JLF stick and Sanwa buttons as used in arcade cabinets so it will last you for years. The mini monster joystick comes in kit form and comes with instructions how to assemble.
Here's the website you can order from... https://monsterjoysticks.com/retro-g...-joystick-kits YouTube video (how to assemble)... [ Show youtube player ] |

i flipped mine to being right handed stick after not liking it on the left, despite all controls these days being on left,i always used an Amiga stick with my right hand, so it feels more normal now.
They have a how to build video on the monsterjoysticks site, is is lots of others on you tube if u struggle, but tbh its pretty easy, just use tweezers to hold the nuts in place when fitting the top |
