Blastaway released!

Italy, November 12, 2019 - RETREAM is delighted to announce the release of Blastaway, a highly playable and entertaining arena shooter, gameplay-wise heavily and shamelessly inspired to Wizard of Wor and graphically somewhat inspired to The Chaos Engine. Graphics have been pixelled by hand and music has been tracked as modules to let the player live a true 16 bit experience. And the 50 arenas, spread over 5 different stages, have been designed to make that experience intensely enjoyable... and last long! Are you brave enough to step into the arenas and clear them of the wors they swarm with?

Blastaway runs on AmigaOS 4 and Windows. And it's... free!

Thank you all!

@invent

Your generous donation is much, much appreciated!

@DamienD

Sorry, there won't be a port for any other platform.
For classic Amigas I have other plans (but who knows if I'll be able to make them materialize).

I know, you've already said that it would be too difficult to port to Amiga OS 3.1

Ah, OK. I just had to be clear also because for sure others will have the same idea.
BTW, a classic version couldn't be identical and would require a huge effort (no direct port is possible: the code would have to be written from scratch and the data would have to be adapted).

I like the translucency of the walls and also the bee. Also the music is typical, I can recognize the SkillGrid style. Too bad I do not have any machine to play it on.

I guess you have access to a MacOS or Linux machine, at least? You could try running Blastaway through Wine - here (xubuntu), that works perfectly.

@saimo

BRAVO Simone! A new game for us amigans to play in 2019 is just awesome and knowing all the time and care you took to make this game a reality for FREE is mind blowing!

I'm proud to support you on your Patreon page and I urge all Amiga users/fans to donate to Retream (Simone) if you enjoy Blastaway and to encourage our developers to continue making new games for our favourite OS!

Since it works perfectly, then there won't be any problems for any updates as it is done..and totally final not possible to add to. Hmm..

Anyway, I haven't played it yet, I have the hardware, but discerning from the screen shot it looks reaaaaaallly cool.

Predseda typed, "I like the translucency of the walls and also the bee. Also the music is typical, I can recognize the SkillGrid style. Too bad I do not have any machine to play it on."

Yeah, I'm excited to see the translucency also. I don't much care about most game music because most is techno-ish, and that becomes very "boring" very quickly for me. So I usually disable it. I'm a Rock'N'Roller, guitar, drums, (Rush)..but I'll check it. Personally, I dig that more stuff is being made for "Next Gen". I still adore my A4000 *beefed* but the newer Hardware is where is where things will go; with PPC only or moves to Intel. As long as Amiga Philosophy and "Spirit" and look remains. Unlike what MS has done with Windows 10. I won't go there.

Maybe this will become like Pushover for Next Gen? That is another fantastic "port/rewrite".

Thanks! When you play it, I hope you'll like it even more.

Then I have good news: neither Blastaway's nor SkillGrid's music are techno SkillGrid's music, in particular, should suit your tastes: it's truly rocking music (and technically it doesn't even consist of modules, but conceptually of a bunch of MP3). Check it out at https://www.retream.com/SkillGrid.

Glad to have contributed. But my future plans include only stuff for classic Amigas )

Well, the classic Amiga spirit can't be entirely captured by the NG machines.

I don't get this
