If you are using the latest Classicwb, then I'll try and repeat any errors you're experiencing.
Cheers for the response Bloodwych, I've only recently reinstalled my PC so I downloaded ClassicWB FULL the day before I released the June pack (some time last week), so it will be the most uptodate version.

I've been using that version of LZX (68020 1.21 regged from classicWB) for all the packs I've ever released, it's been fine up until this problem. It seems to work fine with almost everything I chucked at it over the years. Until now...

Go to the zone and download the star trek file I put in there. (startrek.000) Then lzx it up with the 68020 1.21 version. Then try and unlzx it with any version, it gives a crc error. I've no idea why it causes this error but it's there. It happens when lzx-ing up the whole game or the individual file.

It had the same trouble with the german and french versions of the file too. It's probably a one off but I thought you had better know about it.

The 68000 version from the same pack had no problems with the file so I've resorted to using that for the moment. Quick question.... the 68000 version... is it slower or does it produce larger files than the 68020 one?

KG, you're right!

I'd imagine it produces the same sized files, just fractionally slower on 020 processors when compared to the optimised 020 version. If there is a difference it should be minor.

Just as you said, the 020 version (and 040/060) has problems with that file but the 68000ec is fine. Must be a bug that that particular file has unearthed. I'll just replace it with the 68000ec version as it's more important to have perfect operation than a fraction more speed (on a real 020 Amiga). In WinUAE, it won't make any speed difference anyway.

Cool, I'll keep my eye out for any errors that the new lzx may produce!

I'm gonna be changing the way the whdload packs are put together soon anyway (no lzx) but I'll make sure I check to see if they all extract ok in future!

I hope all is sorted!

Don't forget to add Installer 44.10 to classicwb though eh

I haven't looked into the particulars of lzx for a long time even though I still use it today via SID... I use the 1.21r 040/060 version and never had any problems...

here is my archiving string... perhaps this might help?

LZX -a -e -Qf -r -Y -9 af

also... I created an ascii file and placed it in c: called
lzxt for lzxtest which will go through an entire directory
and test every file with an .lzx suffix...

I use lzxt to test your archives KG

remember to set the script protection flag on it or type
this each time...

lzx t -F #?.lzx

and so ends my helpful tip for another year

@Slayer

Yeah it seems to only be the 68020EC version of lzx that has the errors

@amigafreak

Yeah the site is offline for a couple of days while I sort some things out. I'll get back to you!

here I was coming back from the email notification to say huh? nope you misunderstood KG... but I see you already realised and deleted the following:

----->
@Slayer

The reason the lzx extracted fine was because I replaced the faulty archives with working archives the day after someone found the error, so you've got the fixed archives
<-----

I never downloaded your fixed version since I knew I had a working English data file from another source... I still have the original 3 corrupted archives which I guess will be updated next release anyway right?

cya later anycase, I've been talking far too much today

I wonder how old this bug is as LZX 1.20r has exactly the same problem.

Angry Hosting of WHD load

For the two members who asked the Host is my domain of deadwoodinc.net
which has anti-hot link & anti-leech software in place.

When KG takes the main download page offline out of the public html area you CANNOT conect without having Domain Admin rights.

So when you ask "Is something wrong ? " the answer is

NO IT PROVES THE PROTECTION SOFTWARE WORKS

Now STOP HASSLING KG or I will put both your IP's
on the BANNED LIST
