Question BlizzardPPC 040/25MHz 603/160MHz

Hi all, first post!

Ok, so I have been saving money and started to build myself an
Amiga 1200 desktop. Got almost all the stuff I need.

The Amiga is a 1200 with the rev 1D4 motherboard. I've read
that this is not the best revision to have, and are looking for
another one. And it has 3.0 ROM version.

I should mention that I have a ATX PSU for powering the
Amiga with the diskdrive hack.

I bought a BlizzardPPC 040/25Mhz with a 603/160MHz and
also a 64MB memory stick for this card.

I have a fresh WB 3.1 install and are using SFS. I installed
the libraries from the latest archive over at http://powerup.amigaworld.de/
it is the SystemDisk 2.1

I did the renaming of the different libraries as it said in the
docs. I only have installed the 680x0.libraries no ppc or other stuff.

When I boot I get the error:

C:SetPatch
Program failed (error #80000002)
Wait for disk activity to finish.

Yes (V3.0 (39.106)), is that wrong? I got WB disk's with the Amiga
and used them to install a fresh WB. Am I missing something?

Ok, I started the Amiga and checked the about in WB menu,
it says:

Kickstart version: 39.106
Workbench version 40.42

You could try one of the Classic Workbench packs, they run nice with my PPC setup

CWB ADV SP is a very nice pack and will run nice and quick on your system.

Remember to copy all the nesessary 040 libs and install the WarpOS software & latest update.

I'd also suggest upgrading your Roms to 3.1, although these should work with the older roms there are many bug fixes and you'll have support for OS3.9 which would bring the most out of your setup, especially with WarpOS

Steve.

No not only, I have followed the instructions from http://www.ianstedman.co.uk. He has an Amiga power supply guide.

So I have made the whole thing, my ATX PSU is powering my Amiga.

Sorry to be one of them, when you say copy all the necessary libraries,
are you referring to the ones listed beneath.

37.30 CBM 68040.library -> Libs:68040old.library
P5 68040.library -> Libs:68040new.library
P5 68060.library -> Libs:68060.library
P5 68040dummy.library -> Libs:68040.library

WarpOS is this the WarpUp 4.0 and WarpUP update 5.1 you are referring to?
And should I also install the PPCLibEmu and BBCFix?

And I guess that when you write update you mean the firmware?

I have updated the firmware with the 44.71 version (26.04.2002) from http://phase5.a1k.org.
I tried the other versions but I could not install them.

On http://powerup.amigaworld.de they have an update 44.33 (09.04.2000)
This is not on http://phase5.a1k.org. I'm really confused to which I should
install.

Steve.
I will take your advice and get a pair of 3.1 ROMS.

But I would like to get the system up and running as it is.
If that is even possible.

The 68k libs are in the bppc flashrom so you dont need to worry about installing them in libs (although only the 68040.library would be need anyway for that card). Setpatch could be trying to load the hd version instead of the one in flashrom (which would be odd) so Id remove them from hd to see if it helps.

Ok I did a little more.

I started by flashing the card to the update listed on http://powerup.amigaworld.de.
44.33 (09.04.2000)

Then I removed all the 680x0 libraries from Libs: and then copy a fresh
version of 68040.library from the SystemDisk 2.1 from the same site.

It booted right into WB and has been running for 14 minutes now.

I can now se with the help of whichamiga that there is an 25 MHz 68040
and a PPC 603e@175MHz and also 64MB Fastmem.

It seems to be working, this is really great. Thank you all for the help.

And thank you again Mad-Matt for the help.

WB 3.1 works fine on 3.0KS roms its WB 3.5 and above that need KS3.1
but as you have a blizzard apparently you can blizkick it in software

Yeah it's pretty neat that you can soft-kick with the card. I also looked
around some stores on the net and a 3.1 rom for Amiga 1200 is not
a rare item. So I ordered one. Should be arriving next week.
