Jack Tramiel went bananas
I thought this needed to be shared.
Jack Tramiel, Founder of Commodore. Look at how he babbles in this interview: http://www.geekentertainment.tv/2007...e-64-turns-25/ Granted, the reporter may not be the best out there, but the guy has lost it. I would like to meet him now and get myriads of nonsensical phrases out of him to make a song :P I loved the guy from IBM though, pretty cool and completely on his full senses! Woz is a bit strange though :P Still, funny! |

Did he even have a clue back then, or was it just a stroke of dumb luck combined with some great engineering from MOS?

Some truth there, I suspect, though he was a good (if v tough) business man.

Yeah, I agree.
I loved, on the second video, his remark at almost the end, when asked about how he felt going to work with Atari: "My mission was to destroy Atari. And I succeeded" Hehehe I am almost positively sure he didn't care, it was just another company to run.. He certainly operated as a militar, just fulfilling orders and acomplishing his mission, doensn't matter the assignment or what could be a byproduct of what he did. |

Is it just me or did he spend most of the first interview checking out the cleavage on the reporter... I know I was.

I swear I thought I saw Jack yesterday in a supermarket nearby, HONEST. It was weird. But the area has many elderly people of polish-Jewish descent, so....
Anyway, uh, WHERE did it seem Mr Tramiel went crazy? I am at a loss , please direct me to the part where he went crazy. Last edited by Fred the Fop; 15 February 2008 at 07:16. |

Leave Jack the hell alone, all right. Great interview, 2nd link. I have respect for this man, even if he was reckless and cutthroat.
I like the way his slight disdain for MOSman comes through with a flutter of the hand, accompanied by a remark that engineers think money just falls down outta the sky... of course, the C=64 lives on, but where is Chuck Peddle's Sirius S1 ? No kid could ever afford that MS-DOS based monster, brilliant though it was... |

I thought Jack Tramiel had already gone gaga when he'd gotten atari! Seriously though, it probably was a combo of ruthless business, luck & like all men-in-suits (taking credit for other people's efforts) & being at the right place at the right time. Don't worry, I'm sure they'll make sure to take him off for nap time if he claims it was the fore-runner to the Ipod next. Not that I'm complaining, many happy C64 gaming memories.
