[hybris] mouse/control issues

i have a problem emulating hybris in winuae.
mouse control doesn't work properly, so the game is nearly unplayable.
with joystick i can shoot but not move the vessel, so not useful either.
i tested this game in a500 quickstart and also in a600 configurations.
which winuae settings do i have to adjust for mouse to work properly?

edit: Indeed. Mouse controls doesn't work properly while Battle Squadron is fine.

Don't know what you guys are talking about

Yeah ok, mouse control does work well at all...

...but I can use either "Keyboard Layout B" or "Keyboard Layout A" in "Port 2" and can move / shoot without issue

That's not the point, Damien. Mouse control is fully supported according to the manual. Battle Squadron works much better with mouse. So, there is something wrong.

Ok, maybe mouse control is supposed to be supported and yes; doesn't work well at all

...but honx also says:

As pointed it in my post above; joystick control works without issue

Yeah, Joystick works fine. Just tried Hybris on my real A1200 with mouse. It's not great, but it works as expected while the mouse movement jitters as hell in WinUAE. Not sure why. Toni may know it.

in case of joystick i don't need to play with keyboard layouts (also i hate playing with keyboard ).
i have a real amiga joystick (elite 2002 or competition pro) plugged into a usb retro joystick adapter.
this configuration works in almost every amiga game running in winuae.

Sorry, I did a lazy man's test with keyboard layout set as joystick, but it really shouldn't matter...

Anyway, just connected my wireless Xbox 360 controllers and tested again; all still works perfectly

at least i figured out the (weird) issue regarding joystick movement:
once i have used mouse control, it is broken and only shooting works.
if i use joystick right from the start, without moving mouse, it works.
a little bit strange. so i could play the game at least with joystick.
but i would rather play with mouse, like i did back in good old times!

Could be still the problem. Have you set your stick to "Game Ports Panel" in the Input tab?

port 2 (retro adapter) set to analog joystick. port1 (mouse port, windows mouse) set to mouse control.
as i mentioned in my last post above, joystick control only breaks just when the mouse is moved.

Not a great solution but, if you set "Port 2" as "Windows mouse" and then change the dropdown menu from "Default" to either "Joystick" or "Gamepad" then mouse control works a lot better in WinUAE.

Not perfect though and you really shouldn't need to do this.

You are right. But this happens on real hardware too. Strange. Maybe it's designed that way. If you start the game with a stick/pad the mouse control is blocked then. Tested on real hardware.

Why? The Competition Pro and Elite 2002 are both digital joysticks.

Have you tried HID-mouse instead of Windows mouse ?

On my PC the HID-mouse feels to lag less.

you're right, i did wrong. changed it from analog joystick to joystick in all configurations.
although it doesn't seem to make any difference, so far i could see while testing.

i also changed to logitech hid-compliant g9x laser mouse in all winuae configurations.
i will need to do further testing within the next days to see if it makes any difference.

//edit: this makes indeed a difference in my main amigaos 3.9 configuration in 1080p!
mouse feels much more smoother in this environment! at least it seems so...

Delete your config (if you saved one) and try it from scratch. It has to work, as long as the stick and USB adapter aren't broken.

as said, joystick works as long mouse DOESN'T move. no need for any action in this matter.
and joystick control works everywhere else (in every other game else) without any problem.
the only persisting problem is mouse movement, for which DamianD posted some workaround.
which still is not ideal but much better than the initial problem and reason for this thread.
