A1200 wont work stable if 030 card is removed?
Guys I fished out an a1200 from storage! it was mainly a spare that i kept in case anything went wrong, bought it yonks ago!
I fitted an hard drive to it and an 8meg ram card/clock fpu etc... everything works great for a while and then the amiga will go nuts! lots of wacky things happen! If i fit an Apollo 030 card the amiga will become stable as a rock and will work for hours on end no problem? The thing is i think this 1200 came with the apollo card and maybe the person who owned it did some modifcation? is there anyway i can check as i dont know what too look for... the board is a Rev2B with 3.1roms. |

Hmmm, sounds like either a naffed 020 that's overheating (unscrew the cover but leave it on until the problem starts, quickly lift the cover and stick your finger on the 020, If there's a frying sound and you start leaping around the room, screaming your head off at the layer of skin left behind, and there's a nice roasting smell, Then i'd say the 020 is the problem) or it could be dry joints around the 020 or the oscilator...
