Thanks for this release

I have looking forward to this version only for the "input event recording" thingy. It is a very welcomed feature for me, and many more who recording games (speedruns/longplay movies). But unfortunately it's not working for me

I would be glad if someone can test it and see if it's really working.

Just made a quick try and it doesn't work for me either. I record a bit, and when playbacking it; nothing happens. Even if it would work, I can't see much point in using this way of recording as you probably can't quick save to continue the recording later and tons of other stuff.

Does it work if you use wb disk and record some mouse movements?

Record: Set configuration, click record-button and set path, start emulation and move mouse around, drag window etc..

Playback: Use same configuration, click playback-button, select previous recording and start emulation.

Why not? (of course you can't merge different recordings, at least not yet but you can use state saving normally)

(can someone move input recording posts to WinUAE.prb?)

Don't use it in HD-enabled, 68020+ and especially in JIT-modes, it probably won't work (at least not yet) because of "randomness" caused in timing by host CPU usage, harddisk etc..

(Always use most basic configuration when testing for the first time..)

Booted workbench 1.3 on kick 1.3 with standard config. Same problem;
Nothing happens when playback the file. The screen only flash ones.
I checked the filesize of the .imp file and it was 2kb, so it seems it saves someting to the file.

I've tested an Amiga 1200 config with a 3.1 WB and recorded some mouse movements & clicks. Nothing happens in the playback. The movie lenght was app. 20-30 seconds and i should be able to do something after that time. Only when i disable the playback manually i can do some new actions. After a Mame inp movie ends i can play the game from this position. Is WinUAE supposed to do the same?

When I tried it, I did use the most common config (basic 1.3 WB)... recorded some mouse movements, and tried to playback it but nothing happens...

Big grin Input working...

Working here! clear and nicely...
Tested with a500 quick config. and battle squadron adf
Input has 21kB (5mins. of play)and could be replayed on any uae1.3 with the same config and the same version of the game.

Ok, also tried it with the a500 quick config as when I last time tried it, I had manual configuration... still the same result, doesn't work.

What is the "Alt. playback mode" for?.. guess if I could get it to work, I would easily find out.... but....

I've tried it with the quickstart and with my own config. It works, but with a strange action. I've recorded app. 30 seconds gameplay from Battle Squadron. But when i'm starting the replay it shows only 5 seconds of my playings and then the control goes straight right with still shooting the bullets. Very strange. I've tried it with the compatible and a custom control config. The alternative playback mode doesn't change anything.

Have you tried it as Toni said? You can't do recordings or watch playbacks when the emulation is already running. Before you start the emulation you have to choose if you want to record or playback a game. It only works when the recording and playback config is 100 % identical.

OK step by step:
start your winUAE1.3
quick start option
choose [model] a500/2000 (offcoz you must have kickstarts)
in [configuration] I choose "1.3rom,ECS agnus,512kBChipRAM+512kBSlowRAM"
then I load BattleSquadron.adf
go to output
pickup record
type input name
and start emulation

replaying input is easy
start UAE choose the same options as above
set playback option
choose input file
and start emu

Offcourse its different for other games/aplications

Followed the above instructions, using North & South instead. Still doesn't work.

Edit:

Ok, got it to work for a few secs! . The thing is; you have to start the recording for the first time you press the OK button to start the emulation. You can't start the input recording in the middle of a game... I think... never worked for me...

Anyway.. it only playbacked the first 5 secs or so.... and I recorded for 2 mins :/.

Shouldn't it be possible to record from what ever point I wanted? and then when I load, I'm loaded to that point?.. that's how it work on nes, snes... right?

They don't work, they don't exist. Something much better is coming sooner or later.
