Any chance for somebody to create working installers for Street Rod 1 & 2? Stingray?

I don't like to be a partypooper, but since no original disks are available I wouldn't hold my breath.

Can't the disk images be used in the Street Rod archives floating around?

I guess they can but install authors rarely use cracked games.
Which reminds me; It's only the 512kb version that has been cracked on both Skid Row's SR1 and Quartex' SR2 cracks. If you boot either games on a 1mb chip Amiga the manual protection kicks in. |

Bamiga2002, I tried tooltypes you gave with SR II, but I still get this strange "data/disk-files are damaged" error. Yes, I used CUSTOM1=2 and PRELOAD.

Try again with the version in Zone. Maybe you had corrupt archive.

I used an untouched version, however, it doesn't really matter in this case since the game is DOS and only has a manual protection (which I have completely disabled in the WHDLoad patch).

This is excellent news! Thank you very much. I will be glad to play it without floppies. SR II would be also most welcome. I have won SR I many times in the 90s, but I have never even won SR II. It would be nice to try beat it now.
My version was downloaded from Zone. An both SR I and II are giving this error, that's why I don't believe the files are really corrupted. I don't understand what is wrong, but I really hope it is not my CF-card. I have extra cards around, so if I have time, I could try it with another one to make sure is it really corrupted archive. |

Check maxtransfer value from HDToolBox. It should be 0x1fe00 especially for CF cards.

Yep, I have this value for MaxTransfer. I tryed to be careful when making the partitions. I don't understand what is wrong, but now I will wait for Stingray's patch and try that instead of this generic slave file.

Proper version is now available on ftp and the generic slave is history.
Thanks StingRay. |

StingRay, thank you very much! This version is working extemely smooth with my A1200. Here I come, King! Maybe there is possibility to patch SR II at some point... But on the other hand you got to be a masochist to fully enjoy SR II It's really difficult.
I noticed that screen blinks shortly when I save a game. This short pause doesn't bother me at all with SR I. But I have this same issue with Dune 2 and with that game saving is really annoying because screen blinks two minutes. That's why I am asking, is there maybe any tooltype settings to avoid this blinking when saving a game to CF? |

No, that's normal. Necessary WHDLoad/AmigaOS switches. It happens only once for every new created save game. Save in the same slot again and it saves as smoth as expected.
Maybe the "NoWriteCache" tooltype fixes it completely. http://www.whdload.de/docs/en/opt.html#NoWriteCache Last edited by Retro-Nerd; 29 January 2012 at 19:48. |
