Maybe the difference was that the game in question was a platform/puzzle game.

Erm, wild guess... Car Vup?
It's not a female character, actually it's CAR.. but it's cute, so it may remind female stuff.. Anyone may provide a screenshot (Athoulgh I doubt it's that one) Or maybe the PD game Touch 'n' Go ? This one was available on a The One coverdisk once. |

it definately never came in a box and may have been a demo/coverdisk. |

Could it be....
agh!!.... Mr. Blobby?!?!?! There was a female character in there, MS. Blobby. And you could play with Mr. and Jr too... Awful! It's like Car VUP but all the place is in black and white and you have to turn it into colour. Though it has no construction kit. Anyway check out the screenshots i nicked from The One (sorry, I didnt even bother to put the magazine staright, I'm on a rush :P) |

My sister used to like all the platformers. And if the character was cute, even more. Soccer kid, Wonder Dog, Arabian Nights, the lot.
Anyway, Ianmac, from what you say, if you are right, I think we'll have to venture onto PD-land and find your game. If it never came in a box it could be that it was: 1) Used 2) PD 3) Pirate In the 1st or 3rd case, it's got to be Mr. Ploppy. We ran out of choices methinks! If it's the second case, well, we'll have to call the Masters of PD |

mr. Blobby is a good guess..
My sister likes many different games. In MSX times, she enjoyed Salamander and Elevator Action a lot. On Amiga, she liked Wizkid, Wiz 'n' Liz, Qwak.. (hm.. ok, only cute games) She also loves Parodius 2 on SNES, Streets of Rage 2 on Mega-Drive.. and every now and then , I see her playing a random game in any random emulator I have here. My girlfriend, in the other side, is only interested in cute games |

Relax folks, I've got it.
The game you are after is definitely, definitely Dithell's Wonderland, as Drake suggested, ages ago. By pure chance, I played it for two minutes today, and remembered this thread.
OK. Checklist. 1: Human character. Check. Not a chick, but a Mario-a-like bloke. In even worse shape, and with a bigger nose. Incredible, I know. 2: Must colour platforms. Check. Transparent until you do so. Check. 3: Level Editor. Check. 4: Trampoline floor. Check. I had to kill the little dude off prematurely, or the "boiiing" sound effect would have driven me mad. 5: Quote:
6: No box. Check. PD game. Extra info: it features, for no reason at all, pieces of fruit flying around the place, for you to collect. Sound familiar? Now download it, play it, and we can all relax. I will upload my HD version to the Zone if you like. PS: 32 miles?! Not in one go, I hope. Well done! |

And if you need to see it again before you're sure. Check 5th post. You could've been mistaken last time.
