What version is better for an A3000T

Hi guys,

Just want to get it right the first time

Which of these great ClassicWBs is best suited for an A3000T w/o grafix card?

Kickstart 3.1
16 mb RAM
2 mb Chip

Will be using a monitor as well

Hi Kristian, with those specs you have complete free choice.

The one lost loven posted is for 68000 machines.

What monitor are you using? If it's not a multisync/VGA, you may be better using the FULL pack as it's designed for 640x256. I think the A3000T has a built-in flicker fixer however, so you will probably be fine using any pack display wise.

It comes down to if you prefer using OS35/39 and a newer Workbench, or Scalos run packs (FULL, ADV, ADVSP) used to add extra functionality to Workbench 3.0/1. They have a slightly different feel in terms of how the menus and GUI work. I prefer the Workbench 3.0/1 Scalos run packs on my 020 10MB A1200.

What is best however is down to personal opinion - you'd have to try them and decide for yourself. OS35/9 will support hard drives larger than 4GB, but the Workbench 3.0/1 packs can also be made to work with larger hard drives with a few added patches and a new file system. As well as the patches included in the ClassicWB itself, look into the scsi.device by Cosmos and PFS filesystem which was recently released for free:

I will indeed be using a VGA monitor on the flicker fixer built in the 3000T.

I will likely run some WHDLoad stuff off of there too

Btw, if I want to change the cosmetic look of any of the packs, which one is easier to make to look similar to the good old 1.3 WB?

Funny you should mention 1.3 - I was working on a version just like that, but it's unfinished:

It would be a shame not to use the higher res packs with your flicker fixer, but the FULL or LITE would be the one that's the easiest to convert and the best starting point. I guess you could change the resolution to 640x512, but the icons (including 1.3 ones) and fonts would look a little squashed.

The LITE is a none Scalos pure Workbench 3.0/1 with a smaller cut down install size, the FULL has more features using Scalos and iGame WHDLoad launcher with screenshots.
