Exclamation PCBWay Amiga USB-C PSU

I would like to replace my chunky and very likely On Its Way Out Soon Amiga 600 PSU with something a bit more modern and compact. USB-C would be cool!

Has anyone tried these Amiga USB-C PSUs that are available from PCBWay?

https://www.pcbway.com/project/share..._fecdaa34.html

What might be my best PSU alternative for an A600?

Plenty of different ones on EBay as well with fancy OLED displays from Poland…

I do like the look of those, thanks!

Yes, I was aware of these getting a release soon. I expect the PCBWay one will be a bit cheaper and I'm not sure I really need the extra features it offers.

The Powershark looks very impressive. Is there been any info on expected price range?

Are you sure about the ETA? I have been looking that website for a long time (but i don't use twitter to check if they publish news).

So far, my experience tells me that the best PSU is the CA-PSU from IComp but it is not available anymore.

Apparently, their respective specs should be fine.

Indeed.... We're well into Quarter 4 2023 already. - Just to add, pumped up Amiga's need +5A for a good job. - The The Powershark's 4.5A isn't really cutting it & for my money & the CA-PSU was very expensive for what it was....

As much as you can be reasonably sure. Nothing is certain until you have the finished batch in hand - it could be held up in customs, the assembly house could have a QA fail, the enclosure mold could break and need to be redone, etc. This said, if no surprises happen, late Nov is realistic.

There is a large discussion (and photos) here: https://www.a1k.org/forum/index.php?threads/88875/. It's in German, but browsers translate it really well.

PS. We'll be posting an update on the website this weekend.

Just one data point from the forum linked above - a configuration that was used to demo the PowerShark at A38:

"So the 1200 ran with TF1260 (060, LC), Indivision mk2, clock module, Bifrost, Gotek, PATA SSD and PCMCIA network card. Power consumption without the display was 16W when rp3 was running."

Please keep in mind that the connector/socket becomes a bottleneck above certain current values. Those pins and especially often oxidised "receptacles" are neither meant for nor are performing well at 5A+ In fact they expose problems already at much lower currents

Where are you getting your information from please?

I can't find any specifications for the plug type but I wouldn't imagine the pin size melting on 8 amps.

Have you had a chat with your fellow countrymen making these PSU's?

eBay - Tychy, Poland

Just a question in light of these old Dinosaurs .....

The Goliath PSU with 21W

I have one & its still functioning as it was intended to. It has the same 5 Pin DIN as you mention....

Still Rocking!

Very tempting Steve! That duo looks super neat. The DUO Inc CD32 is presumably the same as standard DUO with DIN power cable for CD32? Can you get additional standard PSU cable so it can used on 2 Amigas of any combination?

Is there discount code we can add on for EAB forum members!? lol
