Power Supply for GVP Impact series II A500+ hard drive?
So i have one of these, a GVP Impact series II A500+ hard drive but i do not have any cables with it at all and im unsure if it even works.
SO my question is, what is the power supply for one of these, how difficult is it to obtain one, and does it need any other cables to make it work? Thank you for any help. |

They are very common and you have several choices :
1) Use a CD32 or 1541-II and 1581 disk drive PSU http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/...roducts_id=473 2) Buy an ATX adapter http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/...roducts_id=901 3) Jumper the HD8+ motheboard internally so it doesn't need a PSU http://members.iinet.net.au/~davem2/...ck/a500hd.html |

Dead hard drive most likely... or it could be a loose connection inside. Get your screwdriver out and take a look.
Replacement hard drives (and adapters) are reasonably cheap through http://www.amibay.com |

Or the PSU is too weak.. 1541-II PSUs are not very high quality, to be honest.

The small brick often fails so that it will no longer power a 1541-II.. The drive will just sit there with the power and drive lights on. (there's three separate 220V 1541-II power supplies but these are by far the most common)
This style to be precise: I have had three go on me and I've heard reports from others about it too. |

I can certainly confirm that those are terrible power supplies, I've had a number of them fail with the symptoms Jope describes. However at least they're regulated, unlike the one for the C64.
