A quick escape...
Opened up my A3000 today, doing my weekly checks... and I find a leaking battery (gasp horror)...
But it's not too bad.. The battery was just beginning to fuzz, I'm guessing a day or 2 at the most! So, quickly removed it... cleaned the board with isopropyl anyway, even though there was nothing on the board (Pays to be safe!) So the moral of this story is: If you're gunna keep an amiga as original as possible (i.e. by leaving the battery on) then DO checks every week and remove anything at the 1st sign of trouble! Really have to check the 500 plus this week though, didn't check it last week 'cause I lent it and the A570 to a friend... |

NiMH barrel batteries aren't that expensive, why not just replace those old leaky NiCd's pre-emptively? Saves you a load of checking. :-)

I'm hoping to keep the boards in original condition for as long as possible...
Not too bothered about the clock actually working... All my machines will eventually be on a network and then look up the time at boot using NTP, so it won't matter too much really... |

No-one expects vintage stuff to be 100% original.. Even if you have a fully restored vintage car, there's a load of remanufactured parts in them. :-)

None of the clocks in my Amigas have worked in years - especially since I removed all the batteries

![]() And before anyone says anything... I'm not a collector in the usual meaning of the word.. Since collectors tend not to ever use their machines... I however enjoy having a blast on them... Recently been using the previously mentioned A3000 to play flashback (overkill I know)... lol.. Using the old faithful Quickshot II Turbo joystick ![]() |
