How many buttons did your PC joystick/pad have? (1990-2000)

Just a quick poll, that will be handy (maybe) later, for some other threads.
Or maybe not.
But anyway, I am curious about it.

Edit:
My English sucks. I am sorry for that.
Any mod, hopefully, could change it to more meaningful title.

Me too! (At least a gamepad that looked almost identical) Got it with my soundcard. Got my first PC in 1995 and the soundcard along with it.

In the 90s the only computer I had was an Amiga 500. Don't know whether to be sad or proud.

the basic db15 soundblaster joystick port support 4 buttons
so most of the joystick 1990-2000 had 4 buttons
however some joys added circuitry but required drivers which supported more buttons ie 10 buttons like the genius max fire G09 or microsoft sidewinder

I did some changes, hopefully for the best.

I have added joypad in the titles (thread/poll) as several people have mentioned these and given that in your answer to Mikerochip you ddin't mention a restriction to joysticks (either arcade-style or flight-simulator-style) only.

Feel free to PM me for any required change.

Pelican AfterGlow PS2 Wired Pad with PS2 to USB PC adapter.

13 buttons + 1x 4 Digital Pad + 2x 4 way analog sticks.

Basically a USB Dual Shock 2 controller but with the Nintendo cross or + directional pad layout, instead of the 4 separate buttons.

Yes, I used a USB to PS2 adapter and it works amazing for all emulators. Now if I can figure out how to use a PS3/4/5 Wireless on the PC, I would be in heaven.

You missed the most common type, two buttons. the 15 pin game port had two buttons per player.

Mine was a two button joystick.

1994-around 2012 I guess - no joystick, pure keyboard +mouse play. I had a spare gravis gamepad lying around for some extremely rare multiplayer stuff, but I never used it myself.

2012 and up: I count 10 buttons on my XBox 360 pad, not counting the start + select buttons but I do count both sticks. So grand total is 12.

Hmmm... At that time, I was using an analogue joystick with 4 buttons on my Amiga, along with a 6-button (7 if you count pause) CD32 pad. I didn't do that much gaming on the PC, but when I did, I used either keyboard & mouse or the same 4-button joystick.

Consoles was a different story of course...

I still have most of original controllers I got for PC through time, from MS SIdewinder Gamepad, Logitech WIngman (loved it for MegaDrive/Genesis emulators since it had 2 rows of 3 buttons), some flysticks (One of them is MS)... can't remember how many buttons each had, but it is quite few from what I remember, compared to 2 on Amiga controller back in day.

I tied many controllers on PC (mostly for emulation), from PS3, PS4, xbox, Steam and NVidia, so far xbox one is by far the best option.

May I suggest to look into xbox one controller? Until few years back I would never consider using xbox controller, but now its almost as standard, from games to key configuration. I actually got 2nd xbox just because it came with 2 controllers @ reasonable price.

I've been currently using a Dualshock 4 with WinUAE, but I plan to get an actual joystick soon (I have my eyes on one of those USB Competition Pros, although I've considered a 500XJ and a NES adapter too)

Is there any similar poll about Amiga, not PC?

Sorry, but i'm more interested how many Amiga users have/had 1/2/3/7 buttons joystick/joypad. In PC world it's rather common, for Amiga it's even nowadays not so obvious...

I don't recall seeing one. It'd have to be a multiselect poll though, because I'm pretty sure quite a few people on this board are going to want to tick most if not all the boxes. I myself (well, me and my brother) burned through a plethora of joysticks during my Amiga's lifespan which ended in 1994, I can't imagine how many joysticks people went through that had the machine for far longer than me or even to this day have one.
