Amiga <-> Pc Lan

Hello folks, I'd like to know how to connect PC and AMIGA to exchange files through the LAN.
I'm using AMIGA 4000 and 3 PC all connected to ADSL2 router.
Amiga works fine on internet, using MIAMI TCP-IP stack.

There is a shared folder on one of the three PC (the server) and want to share it in my amiga too.

what is the software that i need?
any tricks, suggests?

The question is worded in a way that it's hard to understand what you want to do? Map a PC share on the Amiga? Share an amiga disk and map it on the PC?

Then use smbfs to make the share on your peecee available on the Amiga. If you don't want to make whole file system structures available across machines, then you don't need Samba, and smbfs will be fine.

Be warned: I use this program and the interface is a pain. It's better to configure the mount file by hand. The handler itself works well, so give it a go.

Hi again,
I'm trying Amiga Explorer but experiencing connection problems:

- I launch GENESIS on amiga
- I launch AExplorer on AMIGA
- When I launch aexplorer on the PC, in the GENESIS Dialog box (on amiga) I see "access from host 192.168.1.10 to port 356 denied"

192.168.1.10 is the Ip of the PC

I already opened the port 356 on the router for both IP adresses (pc and amiga) but nothing.

What's the matter?

This might work. I use MiamiDX with Smbfs, but it might apply to Genesis with AmigaExplorer as well.

Under Windows you have to make a new user, such as Amiga_Guest. Don't do this by adding the user the normal way. You have to add the user in the incoming network connections settings program. You then have to add this user to the shared folder, and set it's access rights to something appropriate. On the Amiga side you have to tell the software to access the share as that new user.

This works very well with Miami+Smbfs, so you may want to try that if all else fails. The mount file for Smbfs isn't all that complicated:

I found the solution at last, simply forgot to set up TCP/IP transfer mode on AExplorer AMIGA side, now it works really fine... with no shared folders and/or additional users...
I can see all amiga partitions on the AEXplore PC side and working on those is very smooth
I tranferred a 33MB MP3 file in about three minutes, absolutely not bad!

Seems too difficult, Amiga Explorer works very fine and very fast via TCP/IP

try AE if you have more PCs and more miggys

FTP is definitelly more comfortable

Smbfs is very comfortable when you have a Linux server whose disks you mount from all your PCs, Macs and Amigas. ;-)

I have set "FileZilla Server" up on my laptop with a shared "Amiga" folder on the laptop desktop - I FTP from my A1200 to the laptop via AMIFTP - it is very quick and is a really useful way to transfer files over to my Amiga.
My A1200 connects to my Broadband Router via Genesis through a 3COM PCMCIA Network card

Generally I test downloaded Amiga games and software in WINUAE on my laptop - anything I then decide I want to use on my real Amiga goes across the network to the A1200 this way.

It is a lot quicker than using PCMCIA cards or USB sticks to make the transfer and it was quite fun to set up...
