Just tested it in WinUAE. Apart from performance issues, the game is 100% finish-able.
Thanks for the link
Good news

Can you elaborate on; "apart from performance issues" though? When I quickly tested inside the tree last night I didn't notice anything strange.

Did a run through in WinUAE 4.1.0 b4 using this set (A500 1.3 OCS 512k/512k quickstart)
Code:
Name: Shadow of the Beast (1989)(Psygnosis)(Disk 1 of 2)[cr Band][t +3 Band].adf
Size: 901120
CRC32: 8551e427

SHA1: 94d17b13aead1e3c545c034416640521ea7aad8a
Code:
Name: Shadow of the Beast (1989)(Psygnosis)(Disk 2 of 2)[cr Band][t +2 Band].adf
Size: 901120
CRC32: 499e7f01

No problems, it works 100% from start to finish (end screen).

that was meant as a joke. I read here once that someone completed it once, and could never do it again... Personally I find the game beautiful but insanely unforgiving. Only Beast 3 is playable.

I think I knew the Laffer pseudo from there. Pity.

Edit: done

I'm pretty sure it's very much possible (and I'm going to try it), but it'd take some time grinding the strategy. That's where the invincibility comes in handy.
Ghosts n' Goblins are insanely hard, this looks just difficult IMO.

Somehow I thought 2.0GHz i7-2860QM would be enough to emulate 7MHz worth of CPU power of A500.
Apparently that's not enough.
My FPS dipped to 42fps occasionally and there were some audio glitches too, with more moving objects on the screen.

Beautiful game, but I sure don't have time for this. Trainer sure helps, of course.

Mine too

Just out of curiosity I looked quickly at the +3 and it patched the same location that i've found create problems
(a stupid code jump in a position no more existing because modified from the original).

He was a "Beast master", so to speak, knew every game in the series by heart.

I'm especially very impressed with his Beast II longplay.
Even with trainers that game is insanely difficult and he did it without.

Anyway is a "100% version" only in regard to a bare A500.
Does not support DF1: and on a real AGA machine it has on screen glitches (you can see them by activating the WinUAE subpixel emulation).
Also does not even use the 512KB expansion, which used only as a cache greatly would enhance the gaming experience.
And other small details..

But these patches are not trivial

Tested this set on WinUAE 4.1.0 b4 (A1200 Basic non-expanded quickstart)
Code:
Name: Shadow of the Beast (1989)(Psygnosis)(Disk 1 of 2)[cr VF][f AGA NOMAD][t +1 VF].adf
Size: 901120
CRC32: fd69248f

SHA1: af89fe5d285c353736c7bbe45e58362997925fe3
Code:
Name: Shadow of the Beast (1989)(Psygnosis)(Disk 2 of 2)[cr VF][t +1 VF].adf
Size: 901120
CRC32: 03404da2
MD5: e22f9859a075d3670da7291c0395cecc

Also work 100% start to finish (incl. end screen).

Extra chip mem doesn't cache anything (seems to load a tad slower than Band crack) and game still use DF0 only.
Also there's the occasional odd "corrupt" sample (when hitting an enemy), other than that it's perfectly fine.
Haven't tested on real A1200, could be emulation related though, idk.

For sure people did finish it without any trainer .
But you are right, it's far from an easy game...
As it's insane, I will not tell you how many hours I spend in front of my Amiga playing this game back in time .
