Pang - built-in cheats

I can't seem to find any record of these on the interwebs, so for anyone interested: Pang has some built-in cheat keys.

Enable them by typing (during game, with spaces, without quotes):

Code:
"ok ok ok ok ok ok ok ok ok ok pang is good for you"
If successful the following in-game keys will activate:

Code:
I - Invincibility Toggle

F1 - Easy
F2 - Normal
F3 - Difficult
F4 - Very Difficult

Keypad 7 - Weapon 1
Keypad 8 - Weapon 2
Keypad 9 - Weapon 3
Keypad 4 - Weapon 4

Right Shift - Debug Mode
Enjoy.

[Found whilst checksum-hunting on my own crack of SPS 0929 - fun times, merci PA ]

Would be nice to put that in Whdload version, just available with a GUI switch.

Yes, I forgot about this one, thank you. I think there was 2 versions of Pang, one without animals (beta?). Will these cheats work in both?

I'll leave that for Sting/someone else if they want to I haven't made my peace with whdload yet. $a616.b (from memory) will enable it.

SPS 0929 is 'proper pang'. I didn't check 'demo/beta pang'.

I'd love to hear the story of this project one day, there are so many contrasts in the code. A movie with a beautiful start and an hurried, awkard, ending. Still one of my all time favs

Nice find. I also found quite a few unkown cheat codes when creating WHDLoad patches and/or cracks of some old classics, should release my notes one day.

I'll update the Pang patch and add your trainer options.

Heh ♥ Not mine, his :)

There are additional debug options (see above) in/around the same area if you are so inclined. The ones I hooked up to keys still worked ok. Also: the other known string ('what a nice cheat' on the level select screen) can be emulated by just doing a move.w #$10, d2 (iirc) before entering that screen (d2 being 'how far the user can advance into the map' for each difficulty level).
