Amiga and C64 Tapes
Can someone please, tell me if there's any chance to record C64 tapes
using the Amiga 1200? I mean, i would love to write back to phisical tapes some .tap files i gathered time ago dumping them from my personal collection using a PC. However, since new PC's are not suitable for this use anymore, i would like to know if there's some tap-to-tape software and some schematics i could use to build a cable for this purpose. Thanks! |

Back in the day I used to transfer C64 disk images from the Amiga to a C64 1541. I had never heard of these .tap files before this post.
Can you not use a USB adapter that gives you a parallel port to a modern PC? I use a USB to RS-232 for programming my old PICs and that works fine. |

here is something from lemon64 website. - pc based, not amiga.
using TapWav to record to a cd and then record to tape. maybe this works for you. there is also a link by Tom-cat ( on lemon64 thread ) talking about an interface, but the link is dead. Edit: another ( or same? ) interface. Tomcat C64tape interface at zimmers.net Last edited by emufan; 20 April 2013 at 16:57. |

Thanks a lot for the replies guys, however it seems it's not what i'm looking for.
Actually i do own a serial cable that can be used on a PC to record tapes DIRECTLY to the C2N. The thing is it doesn't work on modern PC's due a different protocol handling the port. The cable also provides an USB plug to power on the C2N datasette. It's supposed to use the Tap2wav Windows program to communicate with the C2N using the serial port of the PC. However, since i don't have an old PC around, i thought i could do the task with my A1200, but as far i can see, there's no Tap2wav (or similar) program for the Amiga... |

For myself, I have a collection of many old PC parts kept just for such occasions. |

Best advice above
Of course you could store the Audio files on your Amiga etc.... Some of the old ZX and C64 emulators for Amiga I think could load through a Sampler or some parallel port device - but not sure if file transfere was only one way C64 > Amiga ? |
