Red face Very basic connection question.

Okay, I've read the guides about transfering files between Amiga and PC, using a null modem cable, or some come of PC laplink cable.

You plug one end into the serial port at the back of your miggy- I get that.

BUT- all guides tell me to plug the other end into an available COM port at the back of my PC.

Question is, which port is the COM port? The one that the modem plugs into, or the one your printer connects to? I thought it was the modem port, but I few PC techies I know think it is the printer port.

BTW, I don't have any other available ports apart from these- my motherboard is plugged up to the max! At least I don't think I do. It's a three year old, P2 motherboard- I don't know the exact name.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

COM port is the modem port. Printer port is called LPT or something like that.
