Is there a downloadable version (iso) for sale? Seems a bit "retro" if there's only a physical cd available

No issues installing FE in WinUAE :-)

Sorry for the dumb question, if I want to install it in WinUAE, which edition I have to buy? The classic?

Yep, the Classic version is the only one which will work in WinUAE since WinUAE only emulates classic Amigas. It doesn't emulate any NG machines.

IIRC the Classic version of FE is designed for real classic PPC hardware and not specifically emulators.

Am I right in thinking that because WinUAE can now emulate classic PPC hardware well enough to run AmigaOS4.1 (to a greater or lesser extent) is an unsupported bonus?

Do you mean the standard version of 4.1? That was only ever supplied in a cardboard box and was never shipped with a DVD-style case like FE is. AmigaKit shipped the original OS4.1 with the box pre-flattened to reduce the risk of damage to the box in transit (and presumably to reduce packaging costs too). Mine looked like the box had never been assembled in the first place, rather than it being smashed down... It might be worth noting that the packaging is standard for all distributors - AmigaKit don't package it any differently to anyone else.

There are no real problems installing it, but it is quite limited for some tasks, particularly to do with graphics card support and RAM support.

My experience with AmigaOS4.1 update 6 and FE is the same as Daedalus.
For FE, I was very impressed with the quality of the disc and packaging. I think I would buy a copy even if I did not have a system to run FE!

I don't mind spending a reasonable amount of money in support of the Amiga community, and that's why I bought AmigaOS4.0 for Classic Amigas from AmigaKit even though I had no system capable of running it.

When I received it, the flimsy box in which it was supplied had been mailed in a padded envelope in which the whole lot had been crushed flat and the box damaged beyond repair because it contained nothing but a CD-ROM in a slip-case and an installation guide leaflet!

That didn't inspire me to buy AmigaOS4.1 for Classic Amigas whether I could run it or not when it was announced, but it's good to know that for OS4.1FE Hyperion have at last realized that near-empty flimsy boxes don't survive mailing intact and now supply it in more appropriate packaging.

I will therefore be trying to buy this from AmigaKit when it becomes available again.

Even more reason for a download version, no crushed/squashed deliveries!

It's still available at Vesalia and Amigastore.eu

I hoped for a digital download though :/
Guess I'll just buy a copy to install in WinUAE out of support and pure curiosity.

The latest AmigaOS has been on my wish list for a long time! Stoked!
