Dusted off my RetroPi console

Since I've been getting back into gaming I thought I'd pull my Raspberry Pi project out of storage. I've built this years ago, long before the lawsuits on the ROMs.

LOL. This one has a working power/reset switches. Lots of them don't so watch out for that. I built this one with active cooling system (two fans and heatsinks).

The Retropie console uses SDcards for storage so I have another card with 40 consoles loaded with over 100,000 games.

I my experience Retropie becomes really shitty to use when you have tons of games in the listings, I really cherry pick the ones I want to play.

It has the option to add the games to your fav list. While different consoles have similar games they are unique in their formats.

So, don't install all roms, just one you want to play.

I am the same way and thus reason I never downloaded/installed any of those '128GB pack' things. It just does not make sense to me to go through list where I will play couple of games out of 1000.

Favorite list is also a solution, but in my opinion, better is just to place roms you really intend to play.

I bought the SD cards already loaded so it has many many games.

Anyway it's fun to explore.

Hi Bully i think i have seen you ina post or two of Mine. Nice Project buddy. Can you point me out where you got that Keyboard from please? My Step Dad is hard of Sight and Magnifies the Screen for use but Struggles with the Keyboard he has? Plus I may Grab one for myself it Funky and I like funky. is this a Raspberri pi 4 you say?

You're welcome mate. The keyboard's pretty cool.

I tried the Raspian OS and got online with it. Who would've thought that this little box can get you online and fairly decent at that?

I flashed a 128gb image to mine. I use it mainly to try out games I may not have heard of, forgot about or didn't spend much time playing. If I stumble across something I really enjoy then I will set out to get a copy for the original system.

It's a shame that they have lawsuits on ROMs. How else could we preserve the games? The consoles are no longer in existence except for collectors and museums.

Same for the game medias.

Love the case. I have a plan to do the same but with an Atari 2600 case I have. Thinking of using the original switches to do something, not sure what, but it would be cool to have that physical connection to the case.

That'd be interesting. Be sure to post pics.

I have both SDcards saved to USB drive for preservation. The ROMs and the Emulators can be extracted using 7zip.
