WinUAE got faster: I can finally play Leander full speed!

I dunno about your experiences, but I am thoroughly impressed!
Newest WinUAE 1.4.3 beta:
I can now play Leander in full-speed without any delayed or stuttering sound effects (with a sound buffer setting of 2 now!). Only new option I had to figure out to make it run again: set "Chipset Extra" to "A500" instead of "Generic". But then, alas, it works better than ever! Super Stardust seems to work way way faster and better too.
WOW!
I don't know what Toni did, but some change recently must have increased WinUAE speed by quite a bit at least over here!!! Jippie!
(just had to tell somebody)

Ehhh, you must have a really slow computer if Leander and SS ran slow . They have always been running in perfect speed for me, no sound stuttering, all perfect in all versions I've tried.

I'd say his selected configuration was lousy before... I didn't knew it could get *THAT* lousy, but some people do have trouble configuring stuff and just prefer to upgrade.

...and frequent upgrades lead to less time to actually "know what you got" about the system and... here's where the slowness issue comes again.

Of course my box is slow, I am running a 1.2 Ghz AMD, but that's why I noticed the speed increase in WinUAE. No config changes apart from the one mentioned.

And it is pretty much fast enough for almost all emulation I care about, as it should be

Newer Mame games like Crusin' World, you need probably a 3 Ghz+ cpu for the full 60 frames with the enabled music.

With an 1.2GHz processor, you should've been able to play those games at fullspeed already with earlier versions.

And still, on that sytem with the correct settings it could maybe run smooth. Show me all setting and I'll give you back a modded version with increased speed.

That even runs fullspeed in WinUAEX on Xbox (733Mhz)
Only downside is some garbled graphics but nothing serious.

Exactly. Mame is really the only culprit. Raiden Fighters JET... ok without sound, but ultraslow with sound. Some mame games are really slow when they shouldn't be. I mean old games like Space Gun or even Tempest!!!

Interesting! With Vsync and no frame skipping, sound 100% perfect, I suppose?
Is Xbox good for emulation in general? SNES, NES, etc? Mame?

The XBOX is a fantastic emulator platform. Put Xbox Media Centre on it and install a load of emulators and games ant it's fab - especially on a nice big telly.

It sure is, I emulate a hell of a lot more on my xbox than I ever did on my PC. It'd be nice if the WinUAEX emulator could have a core update though so games like Super Stardust run without looking a bit of a mess
