Help with orientation of A1200 PS/2 Adapter from PF Elektronik

Greetings.

Building a tower conversion from an A1200 motherboard. Got a PS/2 adapter in the deal but I'm struggling with the orientation.

The adapter is marked "1996 PF Elektronik". If I google it, I can only find one other person who asks the same question with no answer.. Looking at the Lyra2 does not really help, part from identifying which chip it goes on.

When testing orientations without pushing it in, it seems it only fits one way, providing I have the correct chip to attach it to. But it only fits if I remove the clip on the keyboard connector on the motherboard..

Any ideas?

It will only fit one way. Look at the corners of the IC, one has a 45 deg. cut, which you will also see on the socket, telling you how it should be oriented. By looking at a 1200 MB, I'd say that it should be connected 180 deg. compared to your last image, although it looks like the cable would get in touch with the big cap there.

Anyway, inspect the IC, match it up with the socket and don't use excessive force or you might break something. It should go on without too much hassle.

Doh, you're right of course. I matched it up and pushed it in place, but it hits the keyboard connector on the motherboard before the socket hits bottom.

Could this be for an A600 or something? I cant imagine it works like this..

Edit: Had a A600 MB laying around.. For sure not ment for that one =)

Hmm, just look at this. Looks designed to fit nicely next to the floppy connector.

Could it be that it should go here instead? That is also a CIA chip, but I though the Lyra connects to the other one.. hm

Edit: Oh never mind. The orientation is all wrong there. heh

Edit2: Hm, what is the 391508-01? Keyboard MMU? Sounds plausible...

Also makes a lot more sense since if it was connected to the CIA, it would be arguing with the keyboard MMU (two outputs fighting each other).

In practice it usually works to have several keyboards connected to one CIA. They're silent when they're not talking. :-)
