Odd CDTV Keyboard Problems
My CDTV keyboard has two odd problems:
1) the Y and Z keys are swapped, many of the characters above the numbers do not match the key marking and some keys seem "shifted" along to the next key. 2) some keys do not work at all What are the likely causes? |

The more common qwertz keyboard is surely german. :-)

If it was a German keyboard would all the other characters above the numbers be mixed up too?
Even the + - are not correct I tried to change the keyboard in WB but I couldn't get it to work. Last edited by CDTV1991; 10 October 2011 at 23:41. |

Yes, some of the symbols you get from the number keys with shift are in different places between german/uk. What workbench is this? Are you booting it off a CD?

Workbench 1.3 booting of a custom made CD. Where in workbench do I change the keymap?
...not that it would save on a CD, but that's another tweak for the next version of the CD i'll make. |

Open a shell or cli and say:
setmap gb This naturally requires the keymap to be copied to devs:keymaps on your boot cd. Assuming your CDTV keyboard was with the UK layout, I didn't quite understand what you had on the keycaps and what you saw on the screen.. |

I tried a US version of Workbench 1.3.3 and the keymap now matches the keyboard. Seems I have a US keyboard.

Unlikely. Look above the Number 3 on the keyboard.
If it has the # symbol then it is (probably) USA if it has £ then it is UK Last edited by alexh; 18 October 2011 at 13:46. |

No £ anywhere on the keyboard, so it must be a US one.

Probably. Many other keyboard layouts as well as USA have no £ key. But most don't have the standard qwerty layout (It's quite an interesting read about where keyboard layouts come from)
You'll need to provide (an in focus) photo for one of use to accurately identify it. Or not |
