Question A cool Horror Demo

I found this in the list of banned games in germany. I don't know what this game is about. http://amiga.emucamp.com/feat_banned.htm

I'm not sure that "A cool Horror Demo" is really a demo from the scene... maybe a game demo.

Fascinating! Anyone have the censored versions? Would be very collectable, methinks. Especially the G-rated version of KZ-Manager.

Hmmm...according to that article...
"...Nowadays, hundreds of games have been indexed in the Bundesanzeiger and as a result, international software houses have created special edited versions of their games for Germany. For example, humans are changed to robots and blood is changed in colour to black - representing oil!!..."

Well we all know the censoring of Carmageddon in germany and england. Don't know where else it might be censored. I was surprised to find a non-censored version of carmageddon 2000 in a shop here as we usually end up with a European version which means that it'd be censored. (Just like fallout was censored)

Censoring games: The idea of changing elements in games to prevent a ban appeared after the golden Amiga years... Currently I only know that the makers of The Citadel worked on a cut version for the German market, but it was not released since the publisher did not pay... There are probably some more games which were modified, but currently I can't remember...

Horror Demo: I have this one somewhere, but actually it has another name I can't remember either. It is that demo which can be controlled by a sort of video recorder (fast forward, rewind etc.) to kill guys with an axe, a gun etc. Some months ago it already appeared on the Internet... Maybe it is already in the Tosec Lists, but then under a different name (the correct name...)

This demo is called "REVENGE" from FRAXION but I'm not sure that it is the same. I found another list where you can read that "A cool horror demo" is from Damian. http://www.a42.de:2342/archiv/faq/index.spiele.html

Usually games only get censored in germany because of the "BPSM"-institution (sp?). Other countries shouldn't have problems with them.
Take Fallout for example. That game was slightly censoured. You had a couple of options in the US version you couldn't get in the EU versions. Resulted in a friend of mine taking his newly bought version back to the shop and then order it from the US.

I know there are other games which have been censored in the UK which had an effect on the games in Denmark.

Did you know that sometimes only the english version is censored?
For eg the classic amiga role playing game "Fate - gates of dawn": there are more naked maiden in the german version then in the censored english version

I know of a censored game... Brutal Sports Football ---> Crazy Sports Football.

They replaced blood with..err... saliva? :P

And they say in the "plot" the contestants are robots and not humans. So if robots smash each others to bits, and there's no blood, it's ok

Thisis because nudity is OK with them, but violence not.

Censoring entities are very biased towards certain things. In japan, nudity is more censored than extreme violence.

Arrow

Maybe you can get some yourself even.
Damian released a couple of demos ('Jungle' series): you can obtain them at amigascne.org.
Folder is /pub/amiga/groups/d/damian.
